Cuzoogle: No. 1 Pick Curse or Just Bad Luck?

Worst news of the lot came in Houston where Yao Ming’s season was ended even before it started thanks to surgery on a foot injury that hampered him for long spells last year.

Without Ron Artest in town as well, and with Tracy McGrady still there (not sure which one of those is worse for Rockets fans) they could prove to be the big flops of next season, maybe even forcing themselves into the lottery on the back of a team led by the Always Hurt One and the game’s next big thing…errr…. Trevor Ariza?

But you do have to feel sorry for them really – the Rockets have never really done anything to upset anyone – unlike the Clippers who deserve everything they get for still allowing Donald Sterling the chance to own a team which should be outstanding but will always fail.

On paper (again) basketball betting suggests they should have an excellent chance at success (again) this season, but (again) their collection of over-inflated egos will (again) internally combust and lead to the team breaking up (again).

Seriously, who would be disappointed to see their team trot our Baron Davis, Eric Gordon, Al Thornton, Blake Griffin and Marcus Camby as a starting five, with Chris Kaman and the detritus from the trade with Minnesota last week coming off the bench?

Well it seems now fans might have to wait a little bit longer to see Griffin, although there is still hope he will be 100% fit for the start of the season after a shoulder strain he suffered in the Summer League.

He had performed well enough in Vegas to give Clippers supporters a sight of what they can expect in real games, but this injury just shows how thin a line these big guys tread as they look to avoid a rookie season like Greg Oden’s, Andrea Bargnani’s or any season that Michael Olowokandi played.

And the third one? Well LeBron (you know, the guy who got dunked on a few weeks back…or was he?) admits he smoked pot when in high school…

wtf is this guy talking about??...Bargs rookie season was great....and he had a solid chance of winning rookie of the year if he hadn't been hurt .....and he finished 2nd in the rookie of the year voting....how the fuck do you compare bargs to oden??...like really??

tommysdu 07-24-2009 02:33 PM

he fisnished second with one vote by the bald guy who use to cheer on the raps. but still i see your point, bargns had a good rookie season, just a shyt sohpmore season

Bargs is very underrated by casual fans and even media "experts." Many already have labeled him a bust, even though he is only entering his fourth year in the L. His stats haven't been that great, but he has been only improving since his horrible sophomore year, and he will be one of the best players in the NBA within a few years, IMO.

Why such fuss over LeBron smoking weed in HS? I'm sure he still does it once in a while, along with like 60% of the NBA. It's not like he started worshiping the devil, ate babies, and stole candy from kids on Halloween. The man just took a few puffs of that MJ, and as we can all see, it didn't do much injury to him.

As I recall, early last season a lot of you guys wanted Bargs traded. I even saw an avatar or two with an "X" over Andrea's face.

An entertaining Raptors/NBA blogger. You should check out his place. It's pretty good. ;)

how can a raptor fan be so ignorant about bargnani though? He has a much better season than expected, because he was projected to be very raw.
