Default At the crossroads?

We are still very much a playoff team imo, but i find myself thinking, wow we would be better off not being 1st round fodder and getting a high pick?? As a fan, i dont know if i should be thinking these things? Am i alone in somewhat hoping we tank hard and get a really high pick and become a good team next year moving JO etc, and hopefully filling a spot decently with a prospect off the bench, AB developing all this year and showing Bosh he should stay by becoming a real threat next year? I just cant find a faster way for us to become real contenders, if we make the playoffs this year i think for sure we are 1st round meat, i believed we had a chance the last 2 years, but i really dont think we do this year of going to the 2nd round, unless AB develops much faster then i really see. Ive never had too much confidence in AB before, and im going to go against my better judgement and believe he can turn out to be a starting C in this league. A good one.

One draft pick is not going to make us a contender. I'd rather get swept in the first round of the playoffs and get a slightly weaker draft pick.

True, it may not, then again, it can help considerably in the future. We have mortgaged our future for awhile trading picks, and picking badly, im probably just feeling disappointed in the team, but i honestly can see them going to the 2nd round.

Same can be said the other way around.

I thik it's safe to say a top 10 Draft pick has a high chance of being an immediate impact guy. You get just 3-4 teams needing a big, which many need, and 3-4 teams needing a solid pg, which they all need in the cellars, and what do you have, shit you still might get the second best 2-3 guard in the draft, WHO will be on the books for about a third of what the equivilent vet might cost you in free agency.

Toronto is in a neat position roster wise, one above average scoring rookie might actually be a big differance maker.

I'm not saying tank, but ya just never know!

getting a 12th pick vs a 17th is not going to make any difference. Unless you suggest we completely tank it, and try to win 20 games for the season, it makes no sense.

I do mean completely tank it, and get those lotto balls popping!! You dont need to be the worst team to get the top pick.

That's a bad idea ... You have to think NBA is a business and there are season ticket holders who pays the bills and they won't be happy to see Raptors tanking the season. They want entertainment for the money they paid and they may not return in future if this would happen. Plus, Raptors needs playoff experience, loosing the contact with playoffs will kill the current roster confidence a lot, Bosh may want to look somewhere else to play etc.

If we are gonna go in at the 8th place and face the Celts, I'd rather just stop trying that season, get a high pick and trade it for a pretty big name. Then try again the next season

I agree. At this point it looks like we'd be lucky to get in as the 7th or 8th seed, which means we face either the Celtics or the Cavaliers. I don't see us winning against either team so why even try?

I'd rather get into the bottom 10, score a high pick, and use it in a big trade (like the Ray Allen trade).

Totally agree.

I think that we can really get what we need through JO's contract, so why to tank?. Let's see how much the team can improve under Triano, and I have to say that at least, this team now looks like they know what they are doing on both sides of the court.
