Awww... c'mon ACIE... you can't say that without it sounding like hindsight at it's best. Billups couldn't last more than 1 season with a team until he went to DET. He just found the right situation at the right time and it worked for him. Could be the same thing with Barnes.

TORap, what's going on, big guy?

I think Barnes would have been a great signing for $1M.. but at the same time, I'm sure that figure would have been higher for us. I'm sure he gave some sort of a discount to PHX.

I do like his game though - he's a decent shooter, very team oriented and tough as fuck - the same type of mentality our team is starting to take on. I remember watching on Raps TV a training camp edition of the Suns and the commentators were talking about Barnes saying that he LOVES to be physical on the floor.

As for Billups, he found his niche/game when he played for Minny. He was a sought after FA after his second year in Minny and ended up in Detriot.

BS.

Not even close.

I thought he was good in TO and always wondered why GG got rid of him. He had an impact on the teams he played for right from the get-go. After being injured in Denver and Orlando, Billups had two solid years in Minny and only left because Detriot gave him more $$$.

Barnes was cut, waived and traded because quite frankly he was a bottom feeder. He is 28 years old now, how much more time does he need? Billups was Finals MVP by the time he was 28...Billups made the best of the situations he was in...he didn't luck into what he's become.

Thank god Barnes didn't come Toronto becuase then you'd be able to blame Mitchell for ruining his career, when really he was a marginal NBA talent to begin with.

Hehehe ToRap ... the only fun I had lately on EBS was arguing with Magic fans. Now, even Magic fans are boring as hell. Everybody deserted from EBS!

Whoa, whoa whoa.... don't even TRY that shit with me lol!

Billups was always a good SCORER but he didn't REALLY develop until he landed in DET/. He's admitted that himself tons of times... that it took him some time to learn how to play in the NBA. He had an impact on teams like ours and BOS and DEN because he had the green light due to his high draft stock. Don't make him out to be Lebron though lol...

Barnes isn't a star but he's a decent player to say the least. As for the situations that he's been in.... N.Y.?? GS where they had SJax, Baron, Al and Monta? Sorry dude... but if you don't think that he could help this team... if you don't think that he'd be a serious upgrade over Joey and JM... you're crazy. I think that you'll see what he's made of this year.

So agree to disagree foo!

Ah, that's who I was gonna guess (because of the Guyana flag) but I wanted to be sure first.

What up Hoops!

Yeah, I've been trying to convince him to go back to Hoops, but he likes his new tag.

Chauncey had an impact on those teams before Detroit because he was good. Sure he was just scratching the surface of his potential and finding his way, but he still showed he belonged in the league and that he was very talented.

Barnes has been cut, waived and traded as filler in deals because he's a marginal NBA talent.

Being a sleeper fantasy basketball pick three years ago doesn't mean he's a good player.

I want Hoops to go back to mangokid! I love that name.

I got a cyberhug here for you ToRap, but let's keep it under 3 seconds to ensure no Larry David type embarrassments.

I don't get where you figure JO is playing so many minutes. Is it the new math?

It's a worry that I have for the future mostly... I can see Sam leaning on his main guys ala D'Antoni as the season wears on. Hopefully he proves me wrong.

Meh. I'd take that "marginal talent" on my team any day. Barnes is cut from the same mold as guys like Posey, Marion, Battier etc.... don't need to run plays for him... and he always brings it on D and does the little things.

I can't help it if I'm smarter than most ever NBA GM out there.
