Default Could we have won a game against the Heat?

We were one point away from winning the series against the Nyets. If we beat them, we move on and face the Heat. Tonight, after being dominated in games 1 and 2, Brooklyn won game 3. So… simple question…

Could we have won a game against Miami?

I'm not big on "what ifs", however, the psychology of this one is very interesting. A first round win would have been great, but maybe all of that momentum would have been destroyed if we got annihilated against the Heat in 4 straight.

Even though we lost by one point, and that was heartbreaking, the "almost there" factor is better than if we got crushed.

Personally, I think we would get one win.

I could easily see us winning one, and it's certainly possible they'd have pushed it to six.

Seriously doubting six. Most likely a sweep, perhaps a single win.

It doesn't matter, though - a second series win in franchise history, especially over KG, Garnett and Kidd, would have been a perfect ending to this season. Instead, the history has repeated itself, albeit in 7 games.

Would have been tough. But could see winning 1 game. Getting it to game 6 would have been best case.

I'd say there's about a 70% chance we would have got swept.

I'm sure we would have won Game 3 at least.

it's all about match ups. Indiana is supposed to meet Heat in conference finals, would anybody think Indy would sweep us?

MIA in 6 though

No doubt in my mind. Miami is a bad rebounding team and JV/amir would kill them on the glass. our defense would get killed tho b/c guarding James and wade is too hard. We could get 1 especially if raps catch on fire from the 3 (like the nets did).

Brooklyn has some wing players big enough to at least bother Lebron a bit. We lack the ability to guard the really big strong SFs, currently, even though Ross is otherwise a good wing defender.

I'd like to say that, if we got hot from 3, we'd definitely win a game. But, even if we hit 10+ bombs one game, it still might not be enough to overcome our inability to defend Lebron in the half-court.

I could magically sprout wings and fly off into the sunset, but we all know I wont

Srsly tho even getting swept would have been good for our young players. It would have atleast been for more games of experience. I'm pretty sure no one thinks we are ready now, but if such a day ever comes, experience can't hurt.

i think the more relevant question is how close would the games be, could we have worried the heat?

i think we would've done better than charlotte, maybe had some leads in games. Apart from james killing us, i think the matchups wouldn't hurt us at all.

i think we coulda easily won 1, maybe 2.

It would have been a 5 game series. Maybe could have pushed it to 6, but that is a stretch.

If Amir and Lowry were fully healthy it would have been a pretty fun series, and not a sweep. But of course neither of those guys was going to be healthy. The thing that ended up killing us against the nets was the lack of rest for the last two games.

Are you sure it wasn't our coach's inability to adapt? Kidd, a rookie coach, didn't feel it was wrong to change the starting lineup by removing a relatively well-playing vet, while Raps' brain trust insisted on doing nothing constructive about Joe Johnson until the bitter end...

There is sticking to one's guns and then there is abject stubbornness.

I think there was more adapting than you are willing to admit. Sticking to guns would have meant an emphasis on defense no matter what. There were just too many holes to fill defensively and some hope to win with offense. But that too required a bit too much from a pg that was breaking down.

If Joe Johnson was too big for our wings to handle, imagine LeBron
