there's a line of thinking that close losses are the coache's fault. and i can see it being more-so in losses that come after losing leads, as well as just not being able to win.

casey had the team playing hard last season. it doesn't appear the same thus far. (let's not make this another Bargnani thread, but) Bargnani seems to have regressed substantially. i need to see more lowry but it also doesn't seem like there's an offense that's making the best of the talent at hand. who know's what things would look like if derozen hadn't have found some jar of magical vitamines recently.

the loss of defensive prowess, intensity, and fight, the degration of a key player, questionable offense, and losing what feel like gettable games has me worried.

that said, it seems like BC and casey had a deal where casey would engage in developing players and system, that being so, its hard to see him getting canned, especially with his contract ending (so i think)

The thing that matters about Casey is that he is doing a horrible job with this team. Just tell me in which area we have improved and become better than last year. We just keep hiring assistant coaches to work as coaches to save money, but sooner or later the whole organization will be hurt.

You do realize pretty much every coach in the NBA started out as an assistant right?

We never won gritty games like this with Triano. If we shot poorly, we were toast. Period.

I do, but our list of assistant coaches hired to be coaches is alittle bit long :
1- Kevin O'Neal.
2- Sam Mitchell.
3- Jay Triano.
4- Dwane Casey.
You can not have such four assistant coaches running your team and expect it to do something. None of those coaches are doing anything in the NBA right now. If you want to save money, you have to bear in mind the amount of risk you are tolerating.

I believe we beat the Pistons (not that they're good or anything) by coming back from being down 25 points for the biggest come-from-behind win in Raps history. :cookie:

Casey was the head coach of the Timberwolves for a short stint a few years ago.

I think Casey has been pretty consistent in terms of what he's running and doing, but he isn't getting the same kind of consistency from the players. there's more likely to be a shake-up soon, a trade of some sorts instead of casey getting fired. this is colangelo's third coach and a fourth really just exposes him as a gm who makes bad personnel decisions and passes the buck onto his coach. he either outfits the ship he built with parts that the guy steering it can use or be happy being shown the door for not doing his job.

if its the case that because of geography we can't get guys here, and there's something we're missing then it's time to wave the flag as fans, pack it up, and root for OKC etc because this team perpetually sucks.

I'd fire his ass, but realistically it won't happen. Looking at Bargnani being used as if he's some franchise player, you can tell Colangelo has his hand up Casey's backside.

If we did fire him, who in the world would we hire, Phil jackson? Casey is a good coach guys, give him time, he started a 66 game season last year with barely any talent, and now hes starting a little rough this year, give him time to implement the defensive scheme that we had last year with different players on the team and all these injuries.

Honestly I can't see an organized offence, maybe it's me but I fail to see plays being called or runned. Just a bunch of players trying to create something on the moment.
Apart from a few situations carried over from last year (especially with Caldy running the team) we simply trow the ball to DD or Bargs waiting for them to create something.

The team has either regressed slightly offensively or stayed as inept as it was last season and their defense has been spotty so far as well. Whether this is the cause to fire Casey or not is up to the management, of course.

This is the random offense being employed. And while I like the concept, I'm not sure they have anything close to the personnel to pull it off.

The offense has been terrible. I feel like we've had the same three assistant coaches forever. Shake things us. Get someone new. We're not running any sort of cohesive offense and that's a coaching issue. Trading buckets with the Magic hurt to watch and that team is bottom five offensively. Even though the rotations are a bit better (they still have a ways to go), I'm still disappointed in Casey for not having more substance to the offense other than running or a half-court typical Jose possession. Throw more than one pick on someone; try some back cuts, run a few pick and rolls. My God it's like no one knows Xs and Os out there. :cookie:

Less Bargnani and more Derozan will help. We can't keep using Bustnani as the #1 option when he is just terrible. Get DD the ball and let him either score efficiently or get his teammates involved.
