Default Wolves and Raptors Trade Scenerio!!!

Last night league sources said the Timberwolves had at least agreed to the idea of swapping the #16 and Corey Brewer with the Toronto Raptors for the #13 and Hedo Turkoglu - a deal that couldn't drop until July 1st because of cap reasons.

Raptors' sources said last night it wasn't happening as did Wolves sources, but it should illustrate how insane the process is becoming.

I know most wont like the deal...but I'm for it,if it happends....they would save more than 7 million with player and draft pick exchanging..

Ah, good ol hoopsworld. If it WERE true (were being the operative word here because I can't imagine it actually happening), that's a damn steal.

Actually, my bad. It says that they agreed to the idea of the swap. Whatever the fuck that means.

We won't save as much as it seems at face value, I'm guessing we'd be paying a nice chunk of his salary

Absolutely. Cash considerations would be included for sure unless they send us another player (filler?).

they don't need to send filler since they are way under the cap and can take salary back. they might want cash to pay some portion of hedo's deal, but the cba doesn't require it.

If Minnesota agreed to this then yup, it's a real steal.

The T'Wolves don't have any other toxic contracts they could dump on us anyways. Based on how the contracts look I can see the T'Wolves asking us to pay as much as 25-30% of Hedo's salary on the back-end. Is there a limit to how much of Turk's contract we can be forced to eat?

I think there is better deals to be had. Only good thing about this one is the cap savings(7 million a year, adding a nice little tpe to go after another player with).

Brewer at best is a bench player

Snooch, I wouldn't take any of those guys.

I'd rather take a younger kid, with good upside on a nice rookie contract ahead of guys who are already getting paid and have had rumors about being complacent.

Brewer is a slasher. We need one more than anything. And Brewer finally starting showing flashes of what he could be. If this is true, then it's a good deal.

just not big on brewer at all.
Cant get it done on a crap Minny team, cant see him getting it done anywhere, but I have been wrong in the past.

If, and I mean IF he comes here in this proposed deal I certainly hope there are alot more deals to be done and this is just solely a deal to get out of hedo's contract.

I agree. Trading Hedo for Brewer will be a relief of Salary thats for sure. im not to sure how much Brewer is on, but it will be a relief to see Hedo go.

And Brewer is not a bad player. so he would be greatly welcomed

The kid missed all of last year with a knee injury and then played in all 82 games this year, played solid D, still an explosive leaper (as by his dunk at the Staples centre over DFisher early in the season) and slasher plus he's a decent shooter (he chipped in with 13 ppg this season). His lenth and is a defensive upgrade from Turk would make him a fantastic pickup..plus we'd still have a pick this year, so we could still grab someone like Bledoe.

To even suggest that you'd take the bloated and toxic contracts of Maggette or Diaw is insane.

Um, at worst, we're basically trading Turk for cap space ... How the heck is that not a fantastic deal for us??

not to mention the satisfaction of seeing turkoglu get buried in the worst NBA city

44% from 2fg
34% from 3fg
66% from ft

92 offensive rating
111 defensive rating

At best he is a replacement for Wright, but like wright I suppose if he does come here there will be a 100 threads/1000 posts about how he is going to be a difference maker and should definately start.

But maybe if he actually plays at sf instead of sg it will make a difference, but either way cant see him ever being any more than a role player on a mediocre team.

brewer's getting paid around 3mill next year, turkoglu around 10. shouldn't the salaries match within 25%? Or is it because they're under the salary cap the salaries dont have to match?
