Raptors Confirmed Raptors offer Nash 3 years 36 million fully guaranteed

Quote:
The Toronto Raptors have offered free-agent point guard Steve Nash a three-year, $36 million contract, according to sources.

Nash, a two-time NBA MVP, has spent the past eight seasons with the Phoenix Suns, but has made it a point in recent interviews to stress that he's "open to everything" and say he'll listen to any team that calls. However, industry sources monitoring the free-agent market have identified Toronto as one of four team that pose the greatest danger to the Suns in terms of signing Nash away, including the Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets.

It has been widely anticipated that Phoenix would offer him a new two-year deal worth at least $20 million, but it remains to be seen how far Suns owner Robert Sarver will go when the bids start coming in. The Arizona Republic's Paul Coro reported Friday night that the Suns "do not appear willing to meet (Nash's) wish for a three-year deal" and Suns officials are already fighting the perception that they selected North Carolina point guard Kendall Marshall with the 13th pick in Thursday night's draft as the first step in dealing with Nash's eventual departure.

Nash earned nearly $12 million last season and averaged 12.5 points and 10.7 assists for a team that, with no 20-point scorer, nearly snagged the last playoff spot in the West.

I really really hope he doesn't take it. I don't want him on this team, he's not a good fit.

DAL isn't gonna win another title with that core, even with Nash. Still way better than us though, obv.

Marc Berman ‏@NYPost_Berman

Source repeats $36M offer to Steve Nash is "untrue.'' Won't say what offer was. Raptors may want the $36M number out there.

lets not get too excited with tax rates and defeered compensation in USA , a few million more from Toronto gets lost in the wash....I think he can more than make that up in endorsements in the big Apple...If NYK can offer 3 years at close to $10 million , they win....S&T Phoenix

3 year 36 million dollar deal is on the table its the wait game now,

its not nash holding it up, its deron williams, whenver he decides where he wants to play then we'll know where nash goes

i believe toronto won over the knicks but nash is waiting on dallas, i believe playing with the mavericks one last time might be to much to pass on for nash

Exactly.

If Deron goes to Dallas - Nash is ours.

If Deron stays in Brooklyn, then I think Nash will think about Dallas very, very strongly.

If Dwight gets dealt though I think Deron will end up in Dallas. He just wants to see where the chips will fall. I really can't see him wanting to waste another year of his prime on a shitty team, even IF there was a good chance D12 would sign there next summer.

I'm praying he goes to Dallas and Donnie can make moves during the year to be able to afford to sign Dwight outright in 2013.

I hope that we don't sign Nash. This reeks of a short sighted move. Hopefully management gets canned.
