Watching our beloved Raptors loose makes us sad ,angry ,furious and if that isn't enough we have these terrible TV & Radio voices through-out the game with no energy or even a spark of optimizm , that is so depressing.
God I missed Chuck !!!

Hey WKS1986 welcome to Raptors forum. You are right on when it comes to the way the game is being called,...... simply its depressing. As you can see its actually rubbing off on some of our posters, its almosted like our team and fans have been bewitched with a spell.

Anyway welcome and enjoy.

Yeah, a lot of us have already expressed our disdain for the motley crew we have associated with the Raptors on the broadcast side (Devlin, Black, Rautins, PJ), but it looks like we're stuck with them, so there's not much we can do.

In addition, I don't think there is anybody possibly more annoying on the highlight shows than Jim Lang on Sportsnet. He's painful to listen to. In yesterday's highlight reel, he referred to 3 different wide receivers in three different football games as "speedburners." For baseball, he also calls homeruns "slobberknockers." I mean, huh? Basketball, the dude is just lost. If the teleprompter stopped, he would be in serious trouble.

LOL...I know. Like he just pinched some office pens or something. "What's gotcha so nervy Jim?" Then a slap on the back and boxes of pens just start falling out of his jacket.

I like MD better than Chuck, but Leo is still annoying as hell.

Better than last year if you ask me.

I agree with you on Leo, he is better than he has been in the past. Can't go with you on MD over Chuck.

Leo has improved, cause fans voiced their opinion. He is getting less games than Jack, and that's saying something. (Also TSN is a bitch, but lets not go there lol)

MD is more professional. He doesn't have the passion like Chuck, but having Chuck for 82 games was wayyyy toooooooooooo muchhhhh.

Can we win more games? please? This team, they way everyone is playing, we aint going to the playoffs.

Matt Devlin blew my mind last game, and I'm now a fan forever.

"what do you got in your pocket ANDREA BARGNANI!?!?!

SOME EUROS!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

That was priceless. If Devlin brings that kind of cheesy, stupid humour to Raptor broadcasts, on a consistant basis, I will be more than content. And unlike Chuck who thinks about what he's going to say while he sleeps and is an act, that was all spontaneous beautiful Devlin. It just came out, and it was so incredibly stupid, that it was wonderful.

I like Devlin .... I think he's much better than Chuck. Swirk was definitely unique, but his style definitely became too overwhelming.

Devlin's witty and isn't afraid of calling players out during a telecast. Chuck was constantly sucking up to the players and was afraid of being critical of them.

I love broadcasts on the Score because I can always count on Devlin calling Adnan A-train at least twice.

Devlin is awesome.

I love it when he says, "don't settle" or "somebody's got to grab a rebound."

Chuck would be all, "I love when they shoot jumpshots from downtown Jane and Finch and they don't go in OH BABY and then they give up three consecutive offensive rebounds...OH MY Bosh WHAT A PLAY!"

I think Devlin is a refreshing change from the antics of Chuck. Chuck was a decent enough commentator, certainly enthusiastic, but he was just a little too over the top for my liking. By the end of the game, I was just overwhelmed by his over-enthusiasm. Devlin is funny when he needs to be and professional most of the time and I like that.

Nowif we could only get the Armstrong-Devlin duo all the time. Bah to Leo.

Do you guys realize how loved Chuck was here in toronto. I went to about 30 games last year, and everytime they would show chuck on the big scoreboard screen the place would go crazy with cheers.

If there ever was a vote to bring him back or not it'd be 90% infavour.

Yeah he was a homer and cheezy at times, but have you guys ever watched any of the other local broadcast duo's? THERE ALL THE SAME, IF NOT WORSE!

You want non homer color guys? ...... move the Raps to the states, give them a big name all star and a winning record ....and maybe just maybe TNT/ABC will pick up there games.

Devlin is a drunk.

I love his ability to insult the team.

Chuck was fun, fun makes kids and casual fans smile, smile makes you wanna do it again, doing it agian fills seats and gets ratings.

Do the math.

Devlin is brutal...not even in the same class as Chuck. Any chance of Chuck coming back ? Jack Armstrong is a clown with no make up. Their reports from the bus are just horrible. We must have signed both these guys for a bargain price.

How about we kidnap the swirsk and bring him back home ? Or lets bombard his family with emails asking him to come back. We change coaches and trade players during the season why not our play by play t.v announcers. Bring Chuck back ! Voice your support at swirsk054@aol.com

haven't we done this topic to death yet? there are 3 or 4 old threads about chuck vs devlin, including a poll. if i remember correctly, it was the youngn's and jeffb for chuck and everyone else for devlin. let's just do a new poll and be done with the whole topic. the hyperbole in this thread would make chuck blush...

zing!

swirsky and jack armstrong were good together.
swirsky actually made the games alot more entertaining although it seemed he had no idea on how the game was played at times.
chuck had the catch phrases....
when the raps are about to win a game....
chuck would bring out the salami and cheese.
i remember jose hit a tough 3 and chuck said he had "spanish onions"

chuck was definately more entertaining than devlin.
