I was wondering this as i watched the game yesterday and seeing Derozan struggling and then watch Wright continue to tear it up at both ends. What happens when the playoffs start? Do we continue to go with Derozan, a rookie who is naturally a little inconsistent or do you have him coming off the bench and go with the only SG with playoff experience on this team in Antoine Wright? What do you think will happen?

Knowing Triano he'll keep DD as the starter cuz he knows Wright will come off the bench and do good

I don't know, come playoff time the rotations are tighter and you really need good starts. I guess it depends on who we play as well. But i'd rather see Wright playing 30 minutes at the 2 spot with the backup 2-3 spots being DD/Weems/Beli.

Ya but a solid bench is even better. We have enough power starting in jack/bosh/turk/bargs.....i doubt that wright is going to make any diffrence starting. We need our strong bench to dominate when the starters go down.

If there was no moral obligations to our first round pick, Belli or even Weems (who is a better smarter defender) would get the job
Can't think of more perfect bench than Jose Wright Amir. Our roster is too large, time to tighten up the rotations.

So you don't think that Jose,DD,Weems,Beli, Amir, Evans, Rasho can do the job?

If Jay is ready for NBA playoff basketball, he`ll have Wright starting come playoff time, and Derozan, Amir and Jose ready to do damage with specific roles off the bench.

Wright , no doubt about it
in the playoffs, our best players will go for extended minutes, there are no b2bs and there's nothing to save your energy for anymore
jack,Jose, wright, hedu, weems will play all the minutes at 1-3, and bosh, Bargnani and Amir will play most if the minutes at 4-5

You have to look at how players compliment each other though, and how the rotations work out within that framework. There also has to be room to make game to game adjustments. It's going to depend on who we play and what the matchups are. I say it's a wait and see thing, with lots of room left for Derozan's role to be refined yet down the stretch.

Wright definitely has to be on the floor at the end of games. That matters much more than who starts.

In the playoffs you're much less likely to come back from first quarter deficits which have become commonplace for this team. Good, solid starts are necessary come playoff time and having the best five players start the game is huge. Our best lineup is with Wright at the two so I expect DeRozan to come in off the bench and be ready to wreak havoc on the second units of the East.

I think I might be a little more worried about Derozan having too big of a role off the bench if he's not ready to start. There's always a good chance that one or two players just fall off the map altogether if the matchups don't workout. The right matchup might either help Demar or have him watching more than he's used to. That's where the shorter rotations could have their impact. There might not be much of a second unit to throw the rook in against. He might get stuck on someone like Ray Allen regardless.

I guess all I'm saying is that these questions are going to go right down to the day before the first game, and will need to be thought over again between every game. It just wouldn't shock me to see the same starting lineup when things start, and then they can adapt from there, within the first three minutes if they have to. If they get caught shuffling the rotation all over the place throughout the series, then it can hardly be helpful.

What he said. Whether you like it or not, DD is a very large part of our future. Sitting him down when the games really matter is hardly a way to develop him.

Jeff who really cares...DD is a better fit with the starters just like Jack. Both Jack and DD are not the best at their position on our team but thats ok because our bench becomes stronger. We will go with a 8 or 9 man rotation so really thinking about who starts at the 2 spot is just wasting everyones time. We have 2 guys on our team that should be starting but both coming off the bench makes us a better overall team.

Why change whats working? Honestly, Derozan had a real nice stretch of games this year, just last game he was quiet. Changing the lineup now will only fuck everything up. And like others have alluded to, hes our future, he needs to be in these kinds of situations to get better.

And realistically, we're not getting out of the first round anyway so we should be playing him

Because the playoffs are a different animal and you need your best most experienced players starting and finishing games.
