Colangelo turning lemons into lemonade

Quote:
Some Props For Colangelo: Say what you want about Raptors president Bryan Colangelo, but you have to hand it to him… He's turned the lemons of losing Chris Bosh into some interesting lemonade.

Individually some of the moves made so far have been puzzling, but when put them all together the Raptors could be a better team going forward and here's why…

Ed Davis can play… after two Summer League games, Davis has been very impressive, far better than anyone expected.

Sonny Weems showed up in Vegas ready to play himself and has been a monster.

DeMar DeRozan showed up with a nice mid-range jump shot and a better focus on improving.

Jarrett Jack has assumed the role of team leader and has been with his team in Vegas every day acting as mentor and coach.
Quote:
Yesterday the Raptors shipped off Hedo Turkoglu to Phoenix and got Leandro Barbosa in return and have a deal that's likely to drop today which will return Boris Diaw for Jose Calderon and Tyson CHandler for the trade exception the team obtained from Miami in the Bosh sign-and-trade deal.

Colangelo has gotten some heat for the reported $34 million contract given to Amir Johnson, which is in fact worth just at $30 million according to sources that have seen the actual contract. $30 million is still a lot of Johnson, but when you consider what the Raptors are bringing to training camp in October, the team may be deeper, more athletic and younger than last year's squad, and they could be far more dynamic offensively.

The proof is in the pudding as they say, so time will tell if the Raptors are better, but what seemed like a colossal failure a few days ago is looking much better today.

Lemons will be lemons, however, Lemonade is a little more refreshing. Unless you put the lemons in water, still, I'd take the lemonade.

Chandler/Bargs/Weems/Dero/Jack?

With Banks/Amir/Barbosa off the bench?

Team will definitely be a lot better defensively that's for sure. I said all along we can only keep one of Bargs/Turk/Calderon, which one didn't matter, but they needed to be surrounded by defenders. We kept the best defender of the 3 (Bargs).

Calderon is an excellent fit in Charlotte.

The bench is deeper than Banks/Amir/Barbosa

Jack/Barbosa/(Banks trade?)
DeRozan/Weems/Beli
Weems/Kleiza/Diaw
AB/Amir/Davis/Diaw/Dorsey/(Evans trade?)
Chandler/AB/Alabi

Hmmm I wonder if there will be another move made?

Banks/Evans & Jack for Collison & Peja??

OR even better for the Hornets we trade Jack & Evans & some of our TPE for Collison & Peja giving them instant cap relief!

Those are pretty nice moves, I just wish we would have gotten Beasley. I have a feeling if he was on a team like the Raptors he would have an opportunity to develop.

Chandler, Bargnani, Amir, Davis, Alabi, Evans, Dorsey

Man that's alot of bigs! Especially considering Kleiza can also play the 4. Evans is likely gone, and does anyone know if Dorsey is signed? If not he won't be that's for sure.

I think you will see at least Evans moved from that, probably Davis as well for the right piece coming back in.

so that would leave a bigman rotation of

Bargs, Chandler, Amir, Dorsey, Alabi, Diaw

Davis is going nowhere.

Rotation that might make sense. Alabi goes to D league...

Bargs/Amir/Davis
Chandler/Diaw/Dorsey

or

Diaw/Amir/Davis
Bargs/Chandler/Diaw/Dorsey

or

Amir/Davis/Diaw
Bargs/Chandler/Diaw/Dorsey

Hmm Dorsey can be traded now that he has shown his ability to rebound can possibly continue in the NBA

Davis isnt gonna be a star by any means. and he is alraeady behind both of Bargs and Amir in the depth chart. If the charlotte deals go through he is behind Chandler and probably Diaw. so that makes him at best the fifth bigman. He can bring back value at another position and if it took him to get someone like collison you pull the trigger and dont look back.

Maybe CP3 wants to re-unite with Chandler.

Nah, we won't get CP3. But maybe we send Chandler and Davis to the Hornets for Okafor and Collison. Okafor's contract is disgusting, but netting Collison would be nice.
