his contract is better for us if he left, his value as a player on the roster is better for us if he stayed

Agreed if we can get Barbosa for less than he is making now I'm for it!

Barbosa & Bayless were apart of the 2 best wins this past season they both show heart...

I like Barbosa and I think he like it in Toronto so I hope he sign that multi-year deal because we need VETs like him; also I hope get better after doing his surgery and be the Barbosa that he once was.

IMO if Barbo were to sign a multi year deal no matter who the team is it won't be for the amount he will be getting this year. I would think that would open his options to a team that could use his services like Miami, Boston, Lakers, even the Mavs to name a few. Would make much more sense than staying here in TO in a major rebuilding situation.

I don't think it really matters if there is no NBA season...

Is it too late for us to not renew Colangelo's contract?

He's smarter than the young guys and many times, if the young guys miss the shot, Barbo would nail it. I don't know why people always think the young guys should be spoon fed so much.

So if we don't have Barbosa and don't re-sign Weems (which I pray we don't), who's our backup SG? Or SF for that matter since Kleiza won't start the season healthy.

Back-up SGs and SFs are a dime a dozen. Invite 6 to tryout and let them beat eachother up to get a job.

Then we may as well keep Weems?

it's not about spoon feeding or coddling them. it's about giving them opportunities and not wasting those opportunities on an aging guy that won't pass and teaches them nothing but how to be a ballhog. he may be smarter, but he doesn't know how to lead by example or to teach. i'd gladly trade the 1 or 2 games he won for us last year or might win next year for more touches given to demar, james johnson and whoever we draft. put barbosa on a contender where he belongs. he's just wasting time here in toronto.
