our biggest hole by far is at SF, we're getting nothing from that position, and that needs to change. The only reason I'd trade Jose is to get our SF of the future, which isn't going to happen with a full-dollar return on Jose let alone a realistic return of 75 cents on the dollar. A healthy jose is a solid defender, at least he's aware, and he gets guys the ball where and when they need it.

Jose's skillset is perfect to bring along DeMar and whatever SF we draft next summer because he'll put the ball in their hands in the spots they're most comfortable. Not to mention I can't wait for Val and Jose to hookup next year and make magic sexy pick and roll action.

I'm starting to get turned off of the idea of trying to acquire as much picks as possible especially second rounders.

Jose is a pass-first point guard, thriving in a new system right now, he's healthy, and he loves this city. He's also top-5 in the league in assists and finished fourth last year. I wouldn't trade this guy, and sloughing him off for some unknown draft pick is like a spouse dating behind their other's back, sure they look good but at the end of the day the one's that been there year in and year out, sill rocking it, well you know...jose is my other....

you're kidding yourself if you think all BC is going to do going into his final year/contract is draft a player and round out our bench with 10-20mil capspace.

I'd love to see him throw max money at Westbrook and promise a star role.

yeah i was, and i think promising westbrook a star role is a bigger mistake than giving him a max contract.

wouldn't mind making a play for felton though. he'd be a good guy for our guys to get out in transition with. i'd be happy if we ended up running with Jose next year too.

have 8 players at $40 mil committed + JV and 1st = $45 mil

$10 mil to sign 2-3 players and no top tier player signs for less than $10 mil a year.

Amnesty will be used imo and a decent sized trade. IMO BC is eyeing next summer in making moves and next season to make a jump in the standings. A trade might be made to dump further salary at some point.

More then a couple bench players. I expect he'll trade for or sign a starting SF, sign a PG and add another Center to split minutes with Jonas.

As I said before, Jose's weak man to man defense has been minimized with a coach that can actually teach team defense. YES, Jose is a weak man to man defender. You can see that with his six years in the league or any any scouting report on Jose. And yes, a coach can minimize some of its player's defense limitations with the right defensive schemes, making his players' accountable, and executing them in actual games:

Brad (Toronto)

Does Dwayne Casey deserve coach of the year even if the Raptors only get 25-30 wins?

John Hollinger (12:27 PM)

No, but Dwane Casey might. He's got Toronto playing defense, which already makes him a massive upgrade on Jay Triano.

Ray Felton

PPG
12.8
RPG
3.40
APG
7.0
EFF
+ 12.80

Jose Calderon

PPG
12.2
RPG
4.20
APG
10.0
EFF
+ 21.67

So let me see here, Calderon scores pretty much the same. Rebounds a bit better, Distributes significantly better, AND is TWICE as efficient. It’s been like this for a while now, with Felton never being as good as Jose Calderon. Calderon has won in a major way on the international scale, beat a US squad that Felton, as far as I know, isn’t even considered for a tryout. Jose Calderon likes it in Canada, likes Playing in Toronto, is a team leader, is very liked by both coaching and his peers, is a great team leader and oh yeah, is better at Basketball than Raymond Felton.

Ya man, lets can Jose and sit his ass on the bench and fire up the campaign to lure Felton up here, it’s clearly an awesome idea. I’m all in Jeff, where do I sign??

Me? Someone else suggested it i just through up a lineup. lol

Not that i wouldn't mind Felton here. In that post i still had your beloved Jose in the lineup. Last couple seasons prior to these 6 games he's been the better PG imo and is a good up tempo PG.
