Colangelo takes blame for teams struggles

The only thing he is to blame for is keeping Triano.

Quote:
"At the end of the day, there's a lot of talk about this being about coaching and systems and things like that," said Colangelo. "But at the end of the day if you're looking for someone to blame, you can point to me because I'm ultimately the one responsible for putting this group together."

agreed.

the roster is good. I have no problems there.

IMO, he really dropped the ball when it came to the coaching staff. I mean he had carte blanche. he could have picked the guys he wanted above everyone else. proven guys; winners. And he selected triano and Iavaroni (let down).

although maybe it didn't go like that. maybe MLSE have him very limited budget for coaching because of Mitchell?

Triano was a big mistake, instead of going with a more seasoned coach we get this guy. Brian, your team is only as strong as its weakest link, and Triano is one weak fucken link

He fired a guy midseason who be all accounts was well liked by ownership, and he had a Canadian on the bench who was an assistant for quite awhile.

He might not of had much of a choice.

.
The players are laughing it out since the coach is taking all the heat and not them.... not yet that is.

Triano has 2 choices:

1. make excuses, blaming others - like yeah we played back to back games man!

2. Blame himself - I as a head coach suck but i want to keep this a secret so i can get my paycheck, please don't tell anyone!!!

Triano chose #1!!!
good choice!!

Colangelo Chooses #2!

But BC, you don't PARTICIPATE in the games...so sure something is wrong but which part did you fuck up?

Coaches or players?

I want to know...He's trying to make it seem like taking responsibility fixes the matter but it doesn't. Tell me where the problem is BC and how you're going to fix it.

Colangelo-

Some people are really unpatient, especially in Toronto. I'm not going to tell you the problem, but we will make changes and take advantage of any opportunities that jump at us that can make our team better -at making money that is-. Just wait and watch for events to come, i like suprising people.

Triano is NOT the only problem. He needed more defense from his starting 5 and specifically chose more offense instead.

I don't think so. BC wanted to win now. He stated that he wanted to go deep in the playoffs. Thats why he gave the 30 year Hedo a $50 million dollar contract over five years, signed Jack for $20 million over 4 years. Raptors dished out the dough this summer to win now. Lets face it, with extending the contract to Bargnani, the Raptors gave out over $120 million in contracts over the summer to players, but went cheap on the coach. That's why Colangelo is blaming himself.

i appreciate this gesture by BC... he's taking responsibility and the blame. he isnt shying away and is being a man about it. the problem is, it really isnt his fault entirely. the raps as a whole; from player, to coach, to GM all have a hand in this, and all have to bear some of this blame - not just BC.

that being said, i like waht BC is doing. he isnt making excuses, he isnt in dream land. he realizes there is a problem and that things arent working - and he's not shying away from it.

This is where understang the whole process becomes vital if you want to understand why Triano is there.

BC doesn't have complete control of his decision making. It's a mistake to believe that. The MLSE has been notorious for meddling.

Paying Coaches or GM's doesn't affect the cap. It does however affect the bottom line, and the MLSE, doesn't like to fuck with it's bottom line. The MLSE doesn't give a fuck if the product on the floor is good or bad, they only care about profit. They own professional teams in the 4th largest market in NA, and a market that traditionally operates with a massive nationalist chip on it's shoulder. THey play thre us against them card all the time. They work the Leaf fans hard with this shit, and they are doing it with the Raptors. When it was clear Mitchell wasn't thier man, they fired his ass for one reason, and one only, they had a good ole boy in the wings.

He's Canadian.
He knows basketball inside and out (he does, don't think he derosnt)
He comes cheap.

They refuse to pay three salaries, so they keep him on now. But they didn't give a shit about the team to start with when they axed Mitchell because hey, win or lose, they are making money.

The Actual players, well shame on them. Telling the media thier coach cant make them try hard. Wow. Wow. Do you need to be told to try??????

It's a shit show at the MLSE and it has been since they took the reigns. Anyone who knows the organization from an executive level knows this, they also know why the Vince Carter Debacle happened. Same type of shit, trust me. Think Bosh won't go Carters route soon???

Only difference with Bosh is that he is sly, and he learned from carter, he learned what NOT to say and do. His intentions however are no different.

Pride. He's already on the coaching payroll might as well ask him to finish the season for us....

I like BC. He is well a connected GM, he is not afraid to make a deal. Like most GMs, he has made some good trades and bad trades. But his belief that the frontcourt tandem of "Bosh and Bargnani" would be the cornerstone of the franchise was his biggest mistake.

ya. but most people on this forum realize that Mitchell wasn't putting up with Bargnani's shit. Putting him at SF was basically a slap in the face that Bargs needed.

"Hey, you shoot threes, pump fake alot, and take long ranged 2's and don't get dirty in the paint... lets try you out at SF because your not using your height effectively"

Smitch was starting Jamario Moon and winning 50% of his games... that should say something.
