Quote:
Coangelo according to a source is hotly pursuing free agent David Lee and would love to work out a sign and trade with the Knick. However Lee is meeting with the Bulls in Chicago today and has Toronto not very high on his list. Colangelo might fly out to Chicago today also.

Why not? If Bosh isn't returning and BC wants to attempt to keep some winning momentum(i.e. avoid a total rebuild) why wouldn't he go after top talent available. Lee is awesome..and the kind of atttitude this team needs.

Except I'd rather have a wooden stick play defense for me.

Hedo/Lee/Bargnani would be the worst defensive front-line in the history of front-lines.

I like BC and I've been willing to give him the benefit of the doubt in most scenarios but if this goes down I'll be the first to jump on the fire BC bandwagon.

Either way the only reason I can see BC doing this is if Bosh is set on going to New York and wants nothing to do with any other team. I just hope BC isn't that stupid.

If Bosh goes to NYK, at least lee is better than anything else they could offer.

LEe and TPE for Bosh and Jose is actually a solid deal. Allows some flexibilty for further trades.

I am not of the opinion Lee is as bad defensively as you guys are... but then I'm willing to admit I haven't followed that aspect of his game much.

On a team with a FAR worse defensive rating than Toronto, surrounded by a starting lineup tat has a worse defensive rating at every postion than their conterparts in toronto, Lee has the teams best defensive rating and is better than Bosh's.

But then again, the coach he plays for inflates his numbers, and D'Antoni is known for his defensive schemes on the court.

why the "what the fuck?" Lee has a nose for the ball, competed on a god awful team, and has a decent mid-range game. Need I remind all of you scoffers that we're losing 10+ boards a game in bosh. without having to rely on mediocre to awful rebounders to pitch in, why not go after a guy who averaged double figure rebounds last year?

I doubt if Lee would agree to a S&T

LOL. Lee's a stat pad rebounder. He fills out the empty stats and collects all the easy rebounds. When the game is on the line he's invisible though. I don't want to ever see a lineup of Calderon, Turkoglu, Bargnani and Lee together on the floor. I'm soory but it just doesn't work. If we can use Lee as a trading chip however for teams like OKC or any other teams with valuable assets than I'm all for it.

maybe you can have a guy like that on your team in high school, but at the NBA level, there's no way a guy can average double digit rebounds over the course of an 82 game season and call that "easy". He gets a lot of tip-ins because he's always hanging around the rim, being active.
He's been that way since his days at Florida, and I always though he'd be a decent pro because of that. And he is.

We have enough bigs, so this rumour is probably false. I'd much rather have Chandler and Douglas and walker than lee.

The only way this makes sense is if lee is part of a 3 teams trade, or we could get him for very cheap, making him a valuable trade chip for later.

i do not understand the Lee hate that i'm reading.
he would be an awesome fit for the raps. We have been absolutely destroyed on the glass for as long as i can remember... Lee is the best rebounding PF in the league (statswise), and would definitely help us in that area.
He doesnt play D? why, because thats what his critics say? critics talk smack about Bosh's D too... so are we really losing out on anything big here if Lee replaces Bosh next year defensively? (other than a few blocks) not really.

the guy will bring 2 HUGE areas of improvement to this team that we've suffered without for years (and that i read about after every game): 1. Rebounding 2. Toughness (Passion, Heart, Desire).
After every loss last year i would read the post-game thread and read pages and pages of bitching and whining about us not showing heart, not being tough enough, blah, blah, blah... not grabbing rebs, getting out-muscled, blah, blah, blah...
if thats the case, Lee is exactly what this team needs.

he also bring great passing out of the post. Lee is very underrated there, he averaged 3.5apg

Lee averaged 1 spg and .5bpg
Bosh .6spg, 1bpg

In 2007-2008 Bosh had a better defensive rating than Lee, Lee has been better ever since, on a team that plays just as bad of defense overall.
