Interesting what Doug had to say in his mailbag today. Someone was asking what he thinks BC will do with that 17th pick on whether he think BC will use it to actually draft someone or use it as apart of a bigger package (trade) to possibly move up in this summer's draft.

I kind of hope BC isn't looking to move up so he can get Gallinari, because like Thriller I'm kind of tired of the Euro-experimentation for now. I'd like to put more of an emphasis here in North America, but concerned now because Maurizio is apparently over there scouting this Gallinari kid amongst others. For now, please, please stay away from Euros BC.

i think the guy they really want is either Batum or Beasley. I really wouldn't be surprised if it were Beasley. They scouted him an awful lot this year. And he could easily develop into a secondary/primary scorer, and brings a toughness and swagger we sorely need.

the kid will go top 2, and i dont think we have the goods to trade for a top 2 pick. i am very intrigued with beasley and id love to see him here, but i dont think its a possibility. i think you're right about Batum though Hoops... Batum is still a question mark, and i think teams will pass him up in the top 10. we'll need to get a 5-12 pick, and that is more possible for us. |

Well obviousley it would have to be packaged with someone. I mean you can't just trade #17 for #6 straight out. I'm guessin the package may be Bargs, Humps, Garbs, or Graham.

One thing that I can guarantee .... Bargnani will not be dealt anywhere this summer. He's going to get one last chance from this team to prove that he isn't a bust. Colangelo and others have said that big men are slow to develop, so any thought of Andrea being dealt this summer is rubbish.
