Colangelo Looking To Move Up In Draft

Interesting what Doug had to say in his mailbag today. Someone was asking what he thinks BC will do with that 17th pick on whether he think BC will use it to actually draft someone or use it as apart of a bigger package (trade) to possibly move up in this summer's draft. :confused2:

Jay P, Brampton

Doug: I guarantee you Bryan will try to package No. 17 and a player (Ford? Parker? Nesterovic?) and move up into the lottery. But until we know the results of the lottery and the draft order, we canít even guess which team heíll call first.

I kind of hope BC isn't looking to move up so he can get Gallinari, because like Thriller I'm kind of tired of the Euro-experimentation for now. I'd like to put more of an emphasis here in North America, but concerned now because Maurizio is apparently over there scouting this Gallinari kid amongst others. For now, please, please stay away from Euros BC. :(

i think the guy they really want is either Batum or Beasley. I really wouldn't be surprised if it were Beasley. They scouted him an awful lot this year. And he could easily develop into a secondary/primary scorer, and brings a toughness and swagger we sorely need.

When is the date for the lottery....tueday?

MangoKidHoops 05-16-2008 02:43 PM

Thursday night I think. June 26.. Not sure.

EDIT: The lottery is actually next Tuesday, May 20. DRaft is June 26th.

no way we land beasley.
the kid will go top 2, and i dont think we have the goods to trade for a top 2 pick.
i am very intrigued with beasley and id love to see him here, but i dont think its a possibility.

i think you're right about Batum though Hoops... Batum is still a question mark, and i think teams will pass him up in the top 10. we'll need to get a 5-12 pick, and that is more possible for us.

I could see Bargnani being packaged with it. Promise for promise plus a pick?

MangoKidHoops 05-16-2008 04:59 PM

I think Seattle would bite on it. So would Memphis.

Superjudge 05-16-2008 10:43 PM

Nope.

not ever.

Well obviousley it would have to be packaged with someone. I mean you can't just trade #17 for #6 straight out. I'm guessin the package may be Bargs, Humps, Garbs, or Graham.

One thing that I can guarantee .... Bargnani will not be dealt anywhere this summer. He's going to get one last chance from this team to prove that he isn't a bust. Colangelo and others have said that big men are slow to develop, so any thought of Andrea being dealt this summer is rubbish. :guitar:
