Raptors general manager Bryan Colangelo said he would have no problems if his franchise stood pat after the lottery with the ninth pick. When he was in Phoenix, Colangelo drafted Marion and Amare Stoudemire with ninth picks. "I think that we'd get a great player at No. 9," said Colangelo. "I like 9 for some reason. But if I get 1, 2, or 3, I won't complain. But I like 8, 9, and 10, too."

BC can find some good players, especially when he doesn't trade his picks away

Acie 05-04-2009 12:21 PM

Nine is my luck number.

Maybe he'll draft me.

I bring toughness, rebounding, veteran leadership...

I don't think it matters I'm a 6'2 PF.

You're only 2 inches shorter than Barkley, so that could work.

CB4Real 05-04-2009 01:48 PM

we really need a good draft pick that will be actually of some use, and plus we need some young players:dancing:

I have a really good feeling we'll end up in the top 5. :mischief:

Are we trading up?

We only have a shot, albeit a long one at 1,2 or 3 and it's impossible for us to select 4 or 5.

Windex 05-04-2009 02:00 PM

#1 draft pick, here we come

I think the Raps can only get 1,2,3,7,8,9,10,11

Apollo 05-04-2009 02:37 PM

I don't see Thabeet making it out of the top five. I think the Raptors need to be looking at guys like DeRozen and Henderson.

Actually the lotto only selects the top three picks and everything else is decided base on inverse standings.

So basically its either top 3 or 9th or worse.

Beat me to it.

'trane 05-04-2009 02:42 PM

can't be worse than 12th - only possible for 3 teams to jump past us into the top 3.

1-3 and 9-12 are the only options.

Aha, that made my day :yeah::yeah:

As long as we draft a good young SG that likes to attck the rim I don't really care what number we pick at

BballWatcher 05-04-2009 07:21 PM

I just want us to draft the BPA (Best Player Available). The last time we drafted purely based on position we got Haffa.

People have a hard on for guys like DeRozan (overrated IMO, but at least he's an SG) and Henderson (I'm very iffy about a mediocre 6'4 SF).

I'd rather we just evaluate who we think is the best guy available. If guys like Johnny Flynn, Tyreke Evans, Jeff Teague, or Ty Lawson are available, I'd scoop them up in a heartbeat.

Unfortunately, we traded away our second round pick, because there are going to be some intersting potential rotation players such as Taj Gibson available.

Gurk 05-04-2009 07:23 PM

Teague isexpected to go in the 20's in some mock drafts. I won't be surrised if he is available by the time its our turn to pick

Ugo Ferst 05-04-2009 07:23 PM

yea his dad was great at getting value picks.... errr, i mean it was all him.

Speaking of Barkley when are we going to get the next Barkley type player in the NBA? There have been many who thought players like Robert Tractor Trailer would be the next one, others thought Anthony Mason would and he was pretty good but not even close to Barkley & then there was Jahidi White all of these players are busts compaired to Sir Charles.

So I'll put this question out there will there ever be another "Round Mound of Rebound"?

'trane 05-04-2009 08:28 PM

i'm a big dejaun blair fan, and he's got the best chance out of this year's crop to be that guy, but i'm not sold that he actually will. his college numbers are almost exactly like traylor's.

what about big baby? he's been playing great this playoffs and has some of that barkley attitude... i suppose he's the closest we have so far.

Brandon Jennings?
