wow. mentions defense at 4 min. mark. and then mentions that fact that they have a 20 year-old centre. ummmm. right. the father loves his son!

Ralph Alpha 12-10-2012 07:29 PM

Kind of a change from the normal Colangelo interview. Seems more candid and you can definitely hear how stressed he is. I think its kind of a good sign that he is under so much pressure to make a trade but hasnt yet. He knows he has to. I don't want him to make a bad trade in haste. I have faith that the wait will be better for the raps. (although we will probably never know what offers he had turned down thus far)

niggles 12-10-2012 07:33 PM

Wow. You start a 20 yr old center and don't think that every team isn't going to go directly at him and eat his lunch and the only true center behind him is Aaron Gray?

Then you have the focus and execution problem.

pete 12-10-2012 08:40 PM

B.C.what he is thinking about? He said that he would like to rebuils this team and it will be long process. So …..last year when they have to lose they won in last month additional three games and they instead of Barnes get Ross. I think this year they last month also will win additional three or 5 games and will send its pick to Thunder instead to loss and get one of the first three picks. This team he will never rebuild.

Talk about using JV as a scapegoat.

He's reminds me of a politician.

Well, he has a point about starting a rookie center. But his whole arguement about this not being because a lack of talent doesn't make any sense when you consider our main backup SG is also a rookie, we have no bonified SF, and as he mentioned we don't have much depth at Center and are starting a rookie. How is all that not a talent issue?

I like BC but he's completely lost me and any confidence I still had in him. I'm so tired of the amount of fail this franchise and us as fans have endured.

Yes, it could definitely be a contributing factor, trouble is, he doesn't mention anything or anyone else, which, if I was JV, would find pretty insulting tbh.

I don't know how it isn't a talent issue Jeff, again, he's kind of implying its a coaching fault (or a refereeing problem) and passing responsibility.

I've liked BC in the past, but personally I think he's made some major mistake recently (DD contract, Landry, trying to sign Nash was mental, Hiring DC, failing to run a club that comes down hard on its players).

FLO 12-11-2012 09:13 AM

Did you hear BC say we didn't have the luxury to add a JERRY STACKHOUSE type player? lol! But we sure had the luxury to add a Landry Fields type player!

I had to check to see if Jerry Stackhouse wasn't in a retirement home somewhere.

how is DD's contract a mistake?
he is 23, getting better each year, avg 18 and 5, 6'7 with a post game... I disagree his contract is rite on

FLO 12-11-2012 12:21 PM

DD's contract was bad because there was no competition for him at the time. It's just bad business. Colangelo didn't let the market dictate his value. I really doubt anyone was throwing 8-9 million at DD this past offseason coming off an average year. I can't blame DD for taking the contract, he got way more than he'd earned up to this point and on top of that huge 4 year security.

So far, he's played up to the contract for the most part having improved in nearly every area. Still, he could likely improve more. It's nowhere near the worst contract we have though!

BC is like that guy at an auction that thinks "I'm gonna start high and blow everyone else out of the water" when it comes to contracts and I don't think that's the best approach to take.

agreed, he has a chance to make his contract look like good value... except that he needs to play much better D, stop jacking spinning fadeaways, not be so reliant on others to make it easier for him and also attract many talented players to come here so that his contract isn't weighing down a rebuild as he's likely not going to be the centerpiece of a winning organization anytime soon.

fresh n' spicy 12-11-2012 01:09 PM

I found it really odd how he mentions "this is year three of the rebuilding process". Um so what where the previous 7 years you where with the raps? Also, I could have sworn on NbA TV i recalled him mentioning that something about this current squad reminds him of the 07 team when they won 47 games. This guy has no clue what he is doing.. He also has made poor drafting decisions with the exception of ed davis, and demar derozan. I like Val's future and it is to ealy to make judgments.. but with the way kemba walker is playing with the bobcats i am starting to wonder if BC "overfocused" in the 2011 draft and made a mistake.

.

I like Demar, he's good. Truth is though, he's probably more or less maxed out his talent level and he's still inconsistent with short range.

I'd have liked to have seen BC risk losing him in order to get him on a better deal. Also he'd have been playing for a contract for longer which is a huge motivational factor for him. He would have also been very valuable in terms of trade potential, now he has little/none.

All signing Demar to that contract really means is less flexibility going forwards and a higher chance of us staying mediocre (in future) instead of great.

he'd probably get more than 10M per this offseason...

That's ok. He's not Lebron James. Let him walk and concentrate on other members of the team with greater potential.

LuffyGear2 12-11-2012 01:28 PM

i don't think that the contract for derozan was completely wrong, but i think the circumstances were not chosen well; why bringing in ross as a backup to bring in some competition for derozan and saying that derozan has to show something this season, unless he's out; but this seemed like just throwing money at him for simply a few glances :dead:

and bc should explain to me, why the defense sucks so extremely in times were jv is not on the court? saying that our defense is bad because we have a rookie center is not enough for me, especially when this rookie center is as talented as jv who has good skills used wrong :cookie:

you can't let assets walk. he's not Lebron, but letting him walk for free when we're already desperate for talent is not smart.

But is overpaying for sub-allstar talent ever a good idea?

Would OKC have given him that deal?
