Default Colangelo the Con Artist

just something to read...this thread could see sparks. bleacher report alert.

Quote:
When he was hired in 2006, he absolutely looked the part. With his clean-cut style and his sharp-looking suits—if the Raptors were a single, middle-aged, horny female who had just hired a Happiness Consultant, a hung Ray Drecker had just walked through the door. He was suave, it appeared he knew the moves and he led you to believe that his services were worth every penny.

Pause.

Little did they know that Colangelo was no more capable of running the Raptors front office than the coach of a high school gym class.

Gotta say, I am starting to buy into this opinion.

I raised my eyebrows more than once with BC's moves.

Extending Ford and J.O. are the big two that stick out for me. The easy ones to hate is Turk and Kapono.

Make me a believer again BC!!!

All of those moves made sense at the time and were liked or loved at the time. The only one that sticks out to me is Kapono.

According to the results, there are plenty of questions. The sad part is that it will take a five year commitment to find out if he has answers.

The reality of it is, easy to sit up and say we should make this deal or that, another to actually pull it off....

He made some great moves.
Tell me you were not excited when he signed Jermaine O'neal, or Hedo.
Even the kapono trade seemed like a great trade, he was sinking 3's in miami like they were going out of style.

I think he is doing a pretty good job. He could have tempted some vets to the team, but it wouldnt go to the idea of letting our younger core flourish.

The bleacher report seems a little biased.

Add to the mix that most top players don't want to come here it limits what a GM can do here.

And no, I never liked the J.O. move or the Turk move. A now-defunct forum had proof of my displeasure.

I was warm on the Kapono signing and VERY against the Ford extension.

Pretty safe to say EVERYBODY loved VC back in 2000...not a correct assessment to say everybody has liked all of BC's moves from day one.

I didn't like the JO move at the time either actually because of his injuries, but it made some sense based on what we needed. So i understood it. The Turk move i really liked at the time as well.

First of all, since when Bleacher Report became one of the main sources of bball news?

Second, why Colangelo a con artist? For pretending being the best GM in the league? Whoa. Isn't he one of the best GM? 2x Executive of the Year is a "con artist"? Go figure Bleacher Report and to all Colangelo haters. Lol. So funny as if you guys weren't in orgasmic rush when he acquired J.O., Marion, Turk, and TJ Ford. You judged him just because those players he acquired didn't made a significant impact on the team.

And oh, some of you might say Colangelo sucks cuz he drafted Bargs instead of Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge, or Rajon Rondo. Lol... I hope Bleacher Report delusional analysts and Raptors Colangelo haters realized managing a team isn't like managing a Yahoo! Fantasy Team.

^ Well put. I actually liked the TJ Ford trade and the JO one. I wasn't so much a fan of the turk move as I would of preferred Marion more. He made the right moves that looked great on paper, it just never transferred onto the court.
As for the 06 Draft, I rmb some people saying that they were pissed they didnt draft Tyrus Thomas. And all the others GM could be picked on for not drafting Rondo/Roy as well. If I remember correct, Twolves traded Roy to the Blazers for Foye too

whatever to this article.

Colangelo would build a dynasty in Miami, Chicago, LA, or New York.

I'd like to see all these so called hot shot GM's come make Toronto work.

A little difficult when not only do star players say hell no, you even have un-drafted rookies with ZERO right to say anything doing the same thing. Most based off Bullshit fallacies created and perpetuated by a US media that clearly has motives, and un-helped by an NBA brass that could care less because face it, the ACC is full (paid) almost every night, they have no need to give any help whatsoever.
