Raptors Colangelo chimes in on the Rudy deal

Quote:
“I put a high premium on talent and character, and Rudy Gay has an abundance of both,” said Bryan Colangelo, the former Raptors general manager who acquired Gay from Memphis last January in a deal that was widely regarded as a salary dump by the Grizzlies. “Obviously, Pete (D’Alessandro) has a mandate to increase the talent level of his team as opposed to depleting it. This move is a pretty good indication of that.”

BC had no concept of flexibility or of salary in the current NBA.

he can't realistically say that. He knows what they're going to ask him about. he knows why they're interviewing him. Anybody in his position is going to say the exact same thing. On top of that he's being interviewed by sacremento based media. say some nice things about Rudy Gay and merry christmas. Anything else will would make himself look bad and just make a bigger issue out of something so small and insignificant.

BC can fuck right off. Nothing more than a bitter ass former GM that pretty much single handily destroyed this franchise. Luckily that did happen because of the god

same thing could have been said with those names inserted right around the second month of the 06/07 season

Up until Bosh left BC was called a god here. We hired the reigning executive of the year in 2006. I remember the summer of 2009 quite well, we had made the playoffs the previous 2 of 3 seasons and Colangelo was making moves left right and center that were deemed good to great. Most here were blowing a load, i remember after the George for Belinelli trade people couldn't believe how he could pull that off and the Jarrett Jack signing had people very happy. That season went well until Bosh got hurt after the all-star break and that was that. Bosh then left and since then it's been a disaster and Colangelo now is looked at around here as a complete incompetent. Masai has been here 6 months and he is looked upon as a god also coming off an Executive of the year award......i see a pattern here. Let's see how this plays out over the next couple years.

so the pattern is a Gm making a good mode and the fans calling him a God? He also happens to been the Executive of the year a year earlier. Too early to judge but I would be stupid to say because all this fits, I see a pattern. Even if he didn't win the award, people will still find ways to find patterns lmao

Those people were deluded. Colangelo had his daddy watching over him for almost a decade in PHX and had his job secured without having to do anything.

I'll give him SOME credit for the team that he assembled in his first year here (Garbo, TJ, Parker), but when that went south his other attempts were horrid overreaches. Just look at the top 3 guys that he tried to pair with Bosh to build something....

1. JO
2. Hedo
3. Bargs

Guy is, was, and forever will be a used car salesman with no idea how to build a winner (unless he lucks into a guy like Nash).

I also agree, that while BC worked hard and honestly tried to improve the team, his judgement of players and their potentials was very questionable.
Luckily, Bosh didn't accept max and Nash chose not to come here!

Whatever plan Masai has, it feels like it's gonna take less time to see where everything's going..

Colangelo just seemed to be the GM who wanted to be known as the discoverer of talent. All of the randoms he had brought in here, he was just looking to be the guy who discovered Ben Uzoh, 3 time NBA MVP and scoring champ.

BC is delusional. He has talent but not an abundance, he has character but less than a little after the way he played.
