Colangelo: After the top two, the draft holds a lot of murkiness

Kanter hasn’t played in an organized game in more than a year after being ruled ineligible to play at Kentucky last season. Valanciunas would be a hard sell to North American fans, who know little about him.

I could see some teams wanting a high pick this year simply because of what may happen in the off-season with the CBA. A young player, on a rookie scale contract (that could be valued even lower than it currently is) is a very nice asset to have.

Sounds like a carbon copy of the last time the Raps had a draft pick this high. Hopefully this time, we don't mess it up if we move up.

D. Smith is reporting that Colangelo has been signed to an extension. TSN. Radio reporting it's a 5yr extension.

I think five years is too long for BC. I think three years would have been ideal. At least, the team's President and GM situation is settled.

You consider Irving world class? I would draft either at the number one, but i agree, i'd probably go with Irving.

The PG position isn't that important. Most teams will still draft a dominant forward over a PG, and for good reason.

The PG mostly just initiates the offense and brings the ball up the court. I'm not saying it doesn't take skill, but it has much more to do with intangibles - the willingness to defer to teammates, patience, maturity...

Some outstanding PGs have come from much later in the draft than the lottery, because a lot of them really aren't that physically talented, they just have "high basketball IQ" (they just know how to play the position properly).

For me, I hope we don't draft Irving simply because he experienced an injury that has a high probability of recurring. Obviously, neither him nor his agent, nor his doctors have any incentive to disclose how it could impact his career.

That injury question mark hangs over Irving's head, and I'd rather draft D Will II or Valanciunas. Also, I'd rather not draft a guard with a top pick.

brandon knight is going to be better than Kemba Walker, he pretty much did what Kemba did this year but win the national championship, the difference is Brandon Knight is two years younger
