Colangelo.

With all that Colangelo is doing in preparation for a new CBA and to rebuild the team, can't it all double for a GM who is clearing the deck for the incoming GM?

I can't say that I would particularly like that because I don't know of too many GMs available who are going to be an improvement right now.

It's tough to say because Colangelo would be pretty hush-hush, but with all that is going on in New York and with New Jersey soon to be a big player, with an international owner, I would not be surprised if either of those teams were preparing to welcome him.

I still say that it's 80% guaranteed he'll be back as long as it's what he wants, but prior to that interview i was nearly 100% thinking he'd be back. Not as sure at this point. I hope he's back that's for sure.

fk24 02-24-2011 06:39 PM

I don't think he'll be back. His lives very far away from his family and he's probably tired of the criticism. I think he'll probably return to Phoenix or somewhere along those lines.

fk24 02-24-2011 06:39 PM

If you can't extend him early, it's a good sign he's gone. Just like some of the players in the league.

LX 02-24-2011 06:46 PM

He looks different. Like he's had some work done or something.

I'm thinking that one issue that might need to be resolved, would be where this team is headed with regard to ownership.

eazy187 02-24-2011 07:02 PM

if BC goes, i'm guess Triano's days would be numbered?!?

+10000, why doesnt mlse just sell the raptors to a billionaire on bay street? we have a dallas-esque team if they did. if not, well hello lottery :sigh:

It's still entirely possible that they are working something out with Rogers. Tanenbaum is also interested. Or maybe there are no intentions to sell. But it's odd that it would be suggested if nothing was in the works. And so much about this team feels like there is stuff to be worked out at the right time, which could be when there is more clarity at the very top.

Kuzzy 02-24-2011 07:11 PM

I hope Bryan Colangelo returns... unless, Sam Presi is available :)

Ammo 02-24-2011 07:20 PM

Eeps! I know, all speculation, but one way to keep a possible change under wraps is if his replacement is in-house. Gherardini? Ujiri jumped the line and got his job. Has there been enough under-studying for Mo-G?

You think Bargnani is shackled to this team now? And we can start welcoming a loooooong line of soft Euros.

I know, you can start yelling at me now for over-generalizing.

The only other thing I'm afraid of is a new GM who thiks he's going to be the one to keep the next big star here without building a contender.....i.e. the next GM that lets a guy hold his franchise hostage and then walk away for nothing.

his days should be numbered either way.

x_kaptain_x 02-24-2011 07:32 PM

If Colangelo's gone then Bargnani is gone and in turn I am gone, I hope you guys can sleep at night when I'm not around.. this news can be potentially devastating.

finstock 02-24-2011 07:35 PM

Time to bring in Sir Charles.

Barkley's too honest to be a GM. He's wide open....but it would be hilarious.

If Colangelo leaves, he'll soon import Bargnani to wherever he goes, so you can tag along too.

TNT wouldn't allow it to happen.

js12 02-24-2011 07:51 PM

I don't think Colangelo is going anywhere.

He's being professional by not talking about his ending contract.

His family lives here in Toronto with him.

Despite what he's said in previous interviews, maybe he's moving up the chain of command once Peddie is gone?

Like LX said, maybe there's a deal to sell MLSE in the works and everything else has been put on hold?

Maybe they simply don't see eye to eye on the number of years and the $$$$ amount of his extension and are still negotiating?
