Good try. * reading your status and chuckling *

i didnt watch a lot of college ball myself this year, but i saw enough duke games to be impressed with rivers. when i'm talking about attacking the basket, i should have been more clear. off an isolation, rivers can take the ball, crossover his man and dribble through the team and score. this might lead to other criticisms, but it's so impressive. beal might be the better shooter, but i don't think he's on the same skill level rivers is.

So, which one of Lillard, Marshall or Lamb will the raps draft with the 8th pick?

Also, apparently Morey really likes Goran Dragic. maybe the pick for K.Lowry?

from Morey's twitter:
Rockets fans, tell Goran Dragic how much U want him 2extend his time with Hou. I will get your message 2him. Hash tag #HouLovesGogi in reply

thats not based on team needs, or even BPA.

Funk, I have a lot of respect for you as a talent evaluator, so let's go with Rivers.

Seriously, I am feeling kinda down at the moment. Let's re-visit the draft considerations after the lottery...

You mean that's all he can do. Over and over, like his teammates aren't there. I don't think there's a GM out there that would take Rivers over Beal. Not to mention his attitude is just the shits. I'm not sure I would take him top 15, but at least I can kind of understand those that want him 10-15. If we take him at 8 I'll be so very disappointed.

Things will change a LOT with workouts, etc.

Maybe, maybe even someone Araujos a pick, and that lets someone slide to us. There's still a lot that can happen.

As is, right now, I'd consider taking Marshall (and groom him to eventually take over - depending on if we sign Nash, or have him develop under Calderon, etc), or Terrence Jones, and see if he could develop into a bruising-type SF.

That was my feeling as well, especially where his attitude is concerned.

This draft won't be about development, unless the player looks like a sure-fire future star. Unless we get into the top three or somehow manage to trade up, I believe BC will trade out, because this team is poised for a leap, both by its personnel and by political reasons (GM's contract year).

from what i've read, there's a group of GM's that have him pegged in the top five. i'm not suggesting that teams would pick him over beal, but i'm merely suggesting that there isn't a big gap, if any at all, in terms of talent between the two.

also, that last bit is completely untrue. he played within the team and that's part of the reason he had his struggles early in the season.

just so you understand where i'm coming from, i hate duke with a passion. i cheer against them on a regular basis. i'm quite happy we've never had one of their overrated asses on our team, but i like rivers. i think it might be because he's been scrutinized so much he's become underrated.

Full disclosure, I have full on Duke hating blinders as well. Doesn't it bother you though that, to twist your words, he struggles when trying to play within a team rather than hero balling? I'm not disputing his talent is far off Beal, but I think there is a gap. Beal has shown he can play without being the centerpiece of the team all the time (though he struggled with that too), and in my opinion the intangibles all lean towards Beal (more so because I consider Rivers' to be negative rather than overwhelming positive from Beal).

Henson played for UNC. I guess a comparison would be like Keon Clark (thin, athletic PF who rebounds well). I'm kind of disappointed that Cody Zeller didn't declare because I think he would've been available here and I'd grab him in a second.

I'd easily trade down in the draft and grab a guy like Royce White or maybe Marquis Teague. White really grew on me in the tourney and he was pretty impressive at Iowa St. He has the talent to be a terrific player.

Rivers is intriguing but I, personally, am not high on him.

We don't even need this pick now that we have AA and Forbes that can shine when games don't matter.
