Chuck is on the brink.

I saw this posted at RealGM here and wanted to get your opinions on the news. This is the excerpt:

Guys-

Mr. Swirsky has made it known to management of RealGM that he is offended by many remarks made about him by fans on this site, and to avoid any potential issues, we are going to err on the side of caution.

As such, this thread is being locked. In future, please be aware that Mr. Swirsky has made his sensitivities to comments made on here known, and that we have, as a result, decided to tread with care where he is concerned.

If you have a personal opinion about him or his work which you want to express in subsequent threads, please be clear that it is your opinion, in order to keep us on the safe side of potential issues.

Thanks for your co-operation.

I'm not quite sure what was said to bring this all about, but I am fairly confident it was good natured sports ribbing and not slanderous or malicious. It'll be interesting to see how Chuck expects all of RealGM to tiptoe around him with their opinions.

I don't know what Chuck honestly expects though. I mean come'on, its a public message board and like players he too is in the lime light and has to have some thick skin and just brush comments off instead of taking it too serious. I guess it also depends on the context of what's being said, but I find it kind of laughable that Chuck's feelings seem to be hurt on what was said. He should know better especially with us emotional Raptor fans. ;)

Somebody mention his hair or Jesus in a bad light and now he is pissed off... :D

i think he's developed a rash fear over his job security as the "voice" of the raptors. all of it stemming from his talking bobblehead giving him a run for his money in monotony. chuck rehashes the same cliches over and over. you've got to think that the scrupulous bean counters at MLSE havent thought about cutting his ass, putting a headset on bobblehead chuck and have leo just push the "talk" button at opportune moments.

I honestly don't think we'd notice any difference...

Sick, Wicked and Nasty! 12-10-2007 08:23 AM

This is hilarious... we are the only franchise, likely in all of sports where the fans actually want shirts and bobbleheads of their announcer and you think he's in danger of losing his job?? Yikes.

As for the RealBS post...My bet is the management of RealBS have a conscience and decided to put that announcement out of their own accord. I don't doubt Chuck reads the board from time to time, but i do doubt he'd care what a bunch of internet bullies said about him. I agree with the decision either way... picking on the man is tired and pathetic....we should be focusing on the team IMO.

I still hate Swirsky and find his over-the-top style annoying as hell. :puke:

Guys, I hate to break it to you... but Chuck runs the world... that's right... he rules it all... long live King Chuck... :D

Superjudge 12-10-2007 02:03 PM

Swirsky will reply to Jackal email on a plane from his Blackberry.

He's 100% in it for the game and the team he's working for.

I respect the Swirsk.

Cool. Get to comment on ancient history.

I kinda liked Swirsky's energy calling games, but he was thin skinned. I remember once Jack Armstrong had a different point of view on something than Swirsky during the game and he stated it strongly. Swirsky clammed up like he had been bitch slapped. Armstrong actually had to say on the air, "Are you mad at me, Chuck?" *argh*, Soft!

I bet it's because his kid(s) read these boards. That's when people really get touchy.

In other news, Rob Ford just became the mayor of Toronto, and he's fat.
