Chris Bosh wins Magic Johnson award

Chris Bosh wins Magic Johnson Award | Blog Archive | Nothing Easy | Blogs | TheScore.com

"The Pro Basketball Writers Association has voted Chris Bosh as winner of the Magic Johnson award for the 2009-2010 NBA season. The award is presented to a player who combines on-court performance with steady cooperation with the media.

Doug Smith, my fellow Raptors beat writer, and president of the PBWA summed up the decision by saying, “Chris understands the needs of the media and fulfills his duties with respect for the job the media plays in this day and age.”

As someone who has had to speak with Bosh on a day-to-day basis during practice, shootarounds and games, I’ve got to agree with the PBWA’s choice. I’ve often said that if Bosh does leave Toronto, we’ll miss him even more than we might think because when it comes to needing a quote each day, regardless of the team’s situation –and this season there were a lot of low points– Bosh always gave freely of his time and he understood that speaking with the media is part of the job. He’s never been disrespectful, never shied away from what was asked of him and has been a superstar without the superstar attitude.

Here is a list of former winners of the Magic Johnson Award:

2001 – Ray Allen
2002 – Elton Brand
2003 – Jalen Rose
2004 – Jermaine O’Neal
2005 – Antawn Jamison
2006 – Grant Hill
2007 – Shane Battier
2008 – Derek Fisher
2009 – Brandon Roy

Congratulations to Chris Bosh. If this is the last time we see him listed in a press release as “Chris Bosh of the Toronto Raptors” this was a good reason for it."

Yeah well done Chris, you have done everything for this Franchise, I just hope to see you back, but you have been great no doubt.

How did O'Neal manage to win this award? Dude cant even stay on the Court because he's so injury prone

Does the PBWA have the opposite of the Magic Johnson award? Because that is what Turkoglu earned this year with his ridiculous BALL comment.

All that aside, congrats and thanks to CB4.

Maybe they could call it the Jerome James award where the player is great in the playoffs, gets a big contract and then does absolutely dick-all!

O'Neal back then was a monster the reason why the pacers were title contenders if it wasn't for the brawl.

healthy young O'Neal + Reggie Miller + Artest is one lineup that would give any team in the league trouble
