Arrow Is Chris Bosh underappreciated by Toronto fans?

Do Raptors fans appreciate Bosh enough?

Of course, you cannot answer the unanswerable, and there is no completely accurate way to measure fan appreciation. The jersey sales, the DVD sales, the ticket sales, the all-star votes, the decibel level the applause reaches when his name is announced before games, they only tell part of the story.

To Bosh's credit, although the recent release of his self-promotional DVD says otherwise, he is no longer courting adulation, local or league-wise.

"I don't feel underappreciated," Bosh said yesterday as his team prepared to play Charlotte tonight. "To be honest, I don't really care about attention anymore. Yeah, I was chasing it for a while. But it doesn't matter to me anymore. You put up your numbers. It's just all about winning at [some] point."

It is the right approach to take, as appreciation is not tangible. (He is, though, likely a tad underappreciated. Even his greatest detractors would place Bosh in the group of the 20 best players in the league today, no worse than second best in franchise history.)

However, as Bosh claims another franchise record as his own, there is no doubt he could have been appreciated more, if only his team were more reliable. In that sense, Bosh has good company in this city.

I think it's a crossroad year. For Bosh, and thus too for the fans. I'm sure he'd get more love after a certain signature is put on paper.

You put up your numbers. It's just all about winning at [some] point.

Just getting around to figuring this out I guess.

Well, better late than never, I think he's just swell so far this year.

I'm a Chris Bosh fan

No true All-star type players are appreciated in the Toronto sports scene for the most part. Perfect example was Matts Sundin, he was class, loyal, constant All-Star, elite.....yet he was often melined in Toronto and when he excersised his right to not wave a no trade claws, fans acted as if he owed them something and blamed him for not helping the leafs get players in return??? And most of his time here, much lesser players like Tucker, Domi were often more popular. Quite a joke really.

Bosh is another guy that is unappreciated, he's got better every season and is a 4 time All-star at 25 and is coveted throughout the league, yet many here think he's a pussy, has no heart, and other things not worth mentioning.

Even Halladay, who was loved in this city was unappreciated the last few seasons imo. Maybe in his case it's more taking him for granted...but still.

Probably...there are only a few guys in the NBA who are rarely scrutinized by their fanbase IMO (kobe/lebron/wade)..for example..

Underappreciated by some, way way way way OVER appreciated by others.

Balances out to slightly over appreciated.

People need to be more like me and see him for what he is.

A nice guy Zach Randolph.

Pros
Gets points, is pretty effecient at times, gets boards, solid rolemodel type of guy.

Cons
Settles, gets bullied, doesnt lead team at times, forgets to play defense.

Zach Randolph is averaging 29 and 18 or something in his last 5 games. I wish Bargnani could do that.

Chris Bosh is a little underappreciated. He will get the respect when he gets onto the first team All-NBA this year. He's the man!

Toronto needs to start the MVP chants near the end of the season for him if things continue at this pace!

Snooch.... A classic example of why Bosh SHOULD leave Toronto and get to a city that really appreciates talented, hard-working players.

Oh come on.... If Chris was to lead this team, i mean REALLY lead this team to a strong win/loss record then most if not all raptor fans would do nothing but praise him.

Remember 3 seasons ago when we won the Atlantic? The Bosh Love was through the roof.

If a team is going to stuck in mediocrity, or actually sub-par, then damn right the captain or leader of the team will get some criticism - deservedly so.

and please stop using the weakness of the team as an excuse. Frankly, our team has more talent than our record shows. fact. It did last year too after the Marion trade.

Do you think that Halladay and Sundin were "bad leaders" too fancy? Because they couldn't lead their shitty teams to better records?

I gave him pros.

AS far as point production, he is real good.
Rebounds as well.

But it ends there.

Oh no! those are pathetic

Please chants "All NBA First Team" instead if you must. At least that's original. And realistic probably.

That is true they are all team sports, but the NBA is the only league where one great super star player can turn a shit team a .500 team.

Bosh is not one of those players unfortunatly...

Actually Sundin led the Leafs in quite a few impressive, successful seasons. It was only when he was in his 30s did his form fall.

Baseball is totally different because 1 guy can only do so much, so Halladay is exempt.

see when he plays like that i sing a totally different tune. That kind of play wins your team ball games. I am SO PSYCHED after watching that game and Bosh was the main reason.

except for when he let Wallace pirouette around him late in the game for that bucket. That shit was inexcusable. Thankfully he made up for it in a big way and then some.

WTF??? lol! He's been playing like that ALL SEASON LONG! The difference over this streak has been that the TEAM has stepped up and given him help! Tonight was no exception. Bargs... Belli... Weems.... all of those guys made huge plays for us. THAT's what we need.... fuck the 1-man show.

We're not asking for a one-man-show.
We're asking for Chris to lead the way he did when he drove on that ball tonight.
I literally jumped off the couch and yelled "YES Chris" when he did that. (Just as the wife was putting the kids to bed too).

exactly. Dann knows.

It's all about doing what you need to do to win. It's not about stats. Not saying the effort hasn't been there throughout the year and that he hasn't in the past, but tonight he TRULY led this team to victory.

BTW. My 3 month old was already sleeping in the room next door.. DO you know how hard it was to stay quiet during that 4th quarter?
