Whats that show about? talk show?

Claudius 01-24-2008 04:48 PM

I have a buddy who's a camera man on that show. I need to make a call now and see if he can get me on set (due to him I've got to meet Hulk Hogan and Gene Simmons to name a few).

Yeah, George used to a Muchmusic VJ years ago and his since branched out covering everything and anything in the media. Music, politics, movies, sports, etc. I actually like his interviews. He's definitely someone I can tolerate. :)

Sick, Wicked and Nasty! 01-24-2008 04:56 PM

It's a good show, but the interview is only going to be about 5 minutes long and he asks different questions...not the usual media bs :)

nice. i sent my email. thanks, doc.

Wasn't Bono so impressed by George when he was on MM that he got him a job on MTV in the States? George obviously declined.

Yeah, I read that somewhere a while back. Trying to search for it right now but can't find it. :(

It doesn't surprise me though because George seems so pro-Canadian its not even funny. ;)

Best known as a VJ for Toronto-based MuchMusic, the 30-year-old broadcaster is so attuned to the renegade spirit of rock that even the real rock stars have taken notice. As the story goes, after Stroumboulopoulos interviewed U2, Bono called MTV and said, "You have to hire this guy."
"His group of people were talking to MTV and saying they should be interested in what I do," explains Stroumboulopoulos. "I bumped into Bono at a party in L.A. after their tour and he sort of apologized to me for doing that. He said, 'I don't want you to leave Canada.' I know he likes what I do here. But I was touched, because that's a pretty good reference. By the way, where did you hear about that?" Actually, the info came from Dave Grohl, former drummer for Nirvana, Foo Fighters front man and a Stroumboulopoulos fan. "It's not often that you find someone with integrity and knowledge of music that holds a position like he does," says Grohl, who watches Stroumboulopoulos's metal show, MuchLoud, on satellite at home in Virginia. "Usually they just find a pretty face."

In the tradition of Bill Welychka and Rick "The Temp" Campanelli, Strombo is such a kiss ass interviewer, it's not funny. These "journalists" who ask safe questions they already know the answer to. Bleh. Rod Black's another one.

But seriously, which interviewer besided Geraldo isn't a "kiss ass" in some way or another? ;)

Really? Do you watch his show? He doesn't ask the traditional questions at all... he might know the answers because he does a lot of research..the guy is a walking trivial encyplopedia.

What took so long for this???

Yeah, I watch his show every once in a while -- mainly because he does have good guests who you don't really see anywhere else. He tries to be funny, when he's not, he yaps about these obscure bands no one cares about because he thinks that whatever he's into, is the greatest thing to ever exist.

I meant he asks the obvious questions and the whole interview degenerates into a mushy asskissfest. Oh, and he's a phoney. Why wouldn't Bono love him? He could ask him about the money U2 hides to avoid paying taxes, but he doesn't.

Good point, although the former CBC broadcaster, David Gilmour, was quite the pistol.

Belsius 01-26-2008 04:26 AM
