Question Chris Bosh or Carlos Boozer?

Starting with Bosh, you know that you are getting a power forward entering the prime of his career who could develop into an even bigger star than he already is. His 22 points and 10 rebounds a game are taken for granted by the mainstream media, as other players with bigger egos often grab the headlines. Bosh has a quiet killer demeanor on the court, much like future Hall of Famer Tim Duncan.

There is some hope in Toronto that the Raptors will be able to build around Bosh, and convince him to sign a long term extension. If he makes the decision based on money alone, the Raptors are in good shape. If Bosh is looking to go with a winner, then his options begin to change. Ideally, there are countless teams that would be interested in building a title contender around him, though while under contract they can’t speak on it publicly. Could you imagine a Mavericks front court that had Bosh and Dirk there? How about Bosh in Detroit, as part of the new look Pistons? Then, there are the subtle rumors that CB4 could decide to play alongside fellow Olympians Lebron James or Dwyane Wade in Cleveland or Miami.

In regards to Carlos Boozer, the story is a little different. Though Boozer has only been in the league one more year than Bosh, he has been subject to injuries throughout. He has never played an entire 82 game regular season, and only appeared in 37 games this year. The Jazz will likely make a decision to keep the younger, cheaper option in Paul Millsap, allowing Boozer to opt out of his contract. Many of the same teams intrigued with Bosh would also be interested in Boozer too, however his asking price may be a little high.

If your team is in need of a power forward, who would you rather have?

1 year ago I might have said boozer - now it's no contest. Boozer will likely take his option in utah as he'll not get anything this summer. Any team with cap space will go after millsap, not after boozer ...

Is it possible to be a ‘has been’ after 6 years?
If so, then Boozer is just that; a ‘has been’.
He’s a player who could be friggin great… could grab 15 rebs a game, could pound in the paint and hit the outside jumper… but could is the operative word. Boozer’s mentality is horrible, he has no passion for his art, and he doesn’t seem to give a crap about anyone else but himself.

He played 37 games this year, about 40 the year before last… he wants to get paid more than he’s worth, and yet he’ll only give what he feels like in return. He’s in for a rude awakening if he opts out this summer, because teams will not want to spend their millions on him…

Bosh>Boozer. Boozer is too undersized for the 4 spot. He barely gets any blocks and because of his length he can't contest any shots other players put up in the paint.

If defense is your criteria for comparing the two, Boozer should win out. Neither Bosh nor Boozer block a lot of shots, but Bosh gets eaten up in the post while backing down Boozer is like trying to back down a brick wall. Don't kid yourself, Boozer is a SOLID post defender. Not to mention he's very agile on his feet.

bosh has faster footspeed, better jumper. (does boozer shoot 3's though?) but i think boozer is (just) +1 more sturdy down-low than bosh, not much of difference overall.

Boozer's shot is a lot better than people give him credit for.
he can hit the 15-17 footer easy.
and his FG% is quite impressive.

its his head that is his weakness... that, and his inability to stay healthy.

I hate playing the what if game, but I can't help but think of what kind of a juggernaut Cleveland would have been if Boozer didn't pull one of the biggest con jobs in the NBA.

thats one time i actually agree with what Boozer did...
how he got cornered into being the greedy party is a mistake.

It was Cleveland's GM who was the greedy one.
he wanted to save money and was too cheap to lock boozer up right away.
I'm sure they had a great meeting, and talked over an expensive steak dinner... he told Boozer to sit tight, get paid his $850,000 (or whatever he was making) for another year, and then he'd re-sign him big next year...

then Boozer goes home and his agent tells him the Jazz are willing to pay him millions now, and lock him up for 5 years.

what would you do?
Do you guys think Cleveland's GM would have held up his end of the bargain if Boozer got injured badly that same season? no chance in hell.
Boozer saw a long term multimillion dollar contract and took it.
Cleveland's GM was at fault there... how can anyone blame Boozer?
i'm sure he wanted to go along with the original plan, then he thought about his future and backed out. who can blame him?

Im giving this to Bosh because Boozer is the beneficiary of playing with an elite PG, coach, and system, the defense focuses in on Bosh a lot more.

Otherwise though its very close and in no way a no-brainer. They score about the same on similar efficiency, both suck defensively, Boozer is a bit better standing up people in the post, Bosh is better at defending the pick and roll. Boozer rebounds better and is a better passer because of his back to the basket game, while I like Boshs attitude more.

Bosh for sure. I'd take Bosh right now over any PF in the league (KG and Duncan are too old now)

There's just no guarantee that Boozer will be able to hold up for a full season without injury. He's an incredible power-forward at times but he doesn't play enough games to make a big impact throughout the ENTIRE season. The fact that Utah seem to be leaning more towards developing Millsap tells you everything. Going back to Utah without demanding too much might be the best option for him. I'll be happy if we can keep Bosh
