I think Jose only looks as bad as the guys he's playing with.

He'd look like a bloody super star bringing the ball up for The Celtics.

thats partially correct

but his inability to stop his opponent as a primary defender has nothing to do with his team
his inability to view the court for more than the set designed play has nothing to do with his team
his inability this year to make open shots has nothing to do with his team
and his lack of driving for layups like 2 years ago is also all him

trading Jose would certainly make tanking easier. But shit - I don't know if I can go through another shitty season. I'm almost ready to rush straight to mediocrity.

The other thing I can't get away from, is that he could be terrific as a backup with a much more reasonable contract once the current deal expires. I don't know if that would ever be in the cards, but that kind of depth at the pg position would be wonderful. It would mean going full circle with the role that Jose takes on, but it's the role he should have stayed with all along anyways.

We're going to be looking at a lot of rookie contracts. How much cap space are we going to need for the next couple years? And in those couple of years we could see contributions to chemistry and overall stability that are invaluable. Along with a few too many wins for the continuation of tank nation. So if he's not going sign for a fair bit less at the end of it, it's probably not a brilliant move. But it sticks in my head all the same.
