Chisholm: Raptors should try and get Maxiell/Prince

Quote:
TOR has long coveted Prince, DET needs a true PG and DET takes back less money this year in the deal, but I dunno which side would balk 1st.

Would taking on Maxiell's three remaining years be worth it to do Jose/Evans for Prince/Maxiell? Not a rumor, just my mind at work.

That would be alright I guess considering Prince is an expiring, how much does Maxiel make?

I'd take prince for Jose, its a no brainer... hes an expiring and plays defense. As for Maxiell, I guess he would be decent off the bench.

Ed Davis, Amir, Maxiell. No room for Maxiell.

What's Maxiell's contract like? Doesn't even matter to me, if Jose's going the other way - for a big expiring in Prince - I'd support it.

3 years $5M per
Its not pretty and would add to out frontcourt jam. No thanks

Keep Calderon

At least until a better deal is offered

that Calderon contract is biting us in the ass, to bad BC didn't try to throw in miami draft pick this year to get that Chandler and Diaw deal done

think about it now we can't be big players 2 years from now in free agency

so now the only way to rebuild is to lose, adding Prince won't help this,

so I'm on the harrison barnes vs kyrie irving watch already

I would say with all the young parts we have shows that we have potential

Derozan
Weems
Amir
Bargnani
Davis
and beli if the lightbulb goes off this year

thse are all nice parts, well the car is put together nicely, now management has to find a driver for this vehicle, only problem is Jarret Jack is driving this thing and he is Ralph Shuemacher, well we need Micheal Shuemacher, only way we can get a top quality driver is in the draft

and honestly this year is going to be a wash, I still watch every game to see how demar does and hope we win games and won't be angry if we 41 games good enough for a playoff birth but I don't want to ride the treadmill

2006, Brandon Roy went 6th arguebly the only franchise player from that draft, well the up coming 2011 draft has 3 dynamic can't miss prospects, Harrison Barnes, Kyrie Irving, and Brandon Knight of NKOTB

Totally agree I would be happy to see both Jose and Jack gone not that either is a bad player or a bad person. But I think we meed a stud PG whether it is Rubio or a draft choice.
Getting Prince would increase our wins substantially while giving us no future.
He is going to play hard because it is a contract year for him.
and he still has 3 good years left in the tank.

Will be interesting to see how Weems Amir and DD improve this year. Amir will have the most pressure stepping into PF.

If the Raps could get Prince and "Maxwell" they should. Evans is simply an expiring and won't be used, while Maxiel is a younger, reasonably healthy and athletic big that can play some tough defence if needed. You can never have enough young athletic bigs especially since he won't be demanding PT.

Jose for Prince gives us a near stud SF, that maybe helps accelerate changing the defensive malaise that has been pervasive on this team. If we ever want to attract other FA's, winning is all that will do it. The draft is a crapshoot, and just because Roy went 6th one year, doesn't mean you'll be able to spot that guy everytime.

I'm not saying sell picks, I'm saying Prince is a winner and he'd be great on this team with these young guys. He'd probably be the instant leader, and his professionalism would likely help alleviate any potential rifts between Americans/Europeans/South Americans/Australians...... for those that think Brazilians are Euro's... lol

Jose as a player isn't as valuable here because defence needs to be more of a focus. Jack has shown that at worst he is only a marginal dropoff and Barbosa/Belinelli should definitely be able to man the point plenty as well.

I don't get how Prince would create a logjam. We can easily do a rotation like so:

SF Prince/Kleiza
SG DeRozan/Weems
PG Jack/ Barbosa

I agree. I love Prince's game. Maxiell forget about him we have enough average and potential down low.

EXACTLY!! Raptors have no STAR POWER so they will have to just run FRESH bodies on the floor. I'd take Prince and Kleiza fighting for minutes any day over what the team has now.

I think Jose will be easily tradeable by February 2012, if we want to have space in 2012. The much bigger concern is the new cba IMO.

Tayshaun Prince is a perfect glue player, and perfect fit on almost any team.

He could be like combination of Shawn Marion and Garbo for us.

He can defend, crafty offensive player, blocks shots, would like great next to sonny and demar and beli

He is still a top 10 SF
But he would likely win us a extra 4 to 7 games a year himself.
Is that good or bad?????????
Plus he does have likely 3 quality years left.
Plus he has trade value to a contending team.
