Default Chisholm: Raptors Have Taken Risky Route To Success

Not the cheeriest of previews from Tim regarding the Raptors for this upcoming season.

Now combine those decisions with the decision to import four players who weren't even in the NBA last year to ostensibly replace those lost this summer and 'risk' starts sounding like a soft word to describe the upcoming unpredictability.

However, Colangelo is on a mission. He wants to build a team that can sustain winning for multiple seasons. Unlike many others his goal is the Championship, not the Playoffs. His mission is to build a consistent, reliable winner.

Though, it's a mission that may prove daunting to this particular assemblage of players.

I don't think there is a risk of losing team chemistry. It was already gone before the playoffs even started. Jermaine is going to boost team chemistry and morale. He's going to be a very strong co-captain.

dunno, is there any way to change a NBA team without risks? Not all the teams are as lucky as Lakers with Gasol

That was a good trade to help the Lakers. That's the only reason they went deep into the playoffs. Without gasol I don't think they would've got that far

Yea I agree with that because now we have high expectations from Roko and we say if he doesn't play good we still have Solomon. But the reality is we don't know if either one of them is good

It is risky IMO! One major injury to JO,Bosh or Jose and the Raptors are hard pressed to make the playoffs.

I can't imagine the Raptors playing without them and still have even a slight chance to make the playoffs

Business is all about taking risks. For the Raptors this was a calculated risk and worth the risk. They needed a post presence, specifically on defence. TJ Ford was no longer the answer to the PG situation. Its a trade that makes perfect sense.

And every trade or move is risky. Boston acquiring KG last year for their entire team was risky. But it worked out. As a team searching for additional credibility both nationally and internationally, this was a perfect move for us.

Wasn't that the way it was last season? Bosh goes down and the team nose dives. I think they're better off this year. If Bosh or Jermaine goes down they still have a prolific big in the paint to ride.

If Jose goes down then the Raptors face a situation that 80% of the league faces in a similar scenario.

Boston lost more than a half team for one player last year and they were champions ...
In the end, there are 5 players who plays at once not 15. Depth is important but the value of "go to" guys is even more important!
