Arrow Chisholm: Raps have pulled together in wake of blowout loss

Quote:
After Wednesday's debacle in Atlanta (and the hubbub that ensued), you knew that something was going to be altered in the aftermath. No team goes through such a humiliating collective experience and comes out the other end unchanged. Circumstances could have developed in one of two ways: One, the team splinters under the weight of all the humiliating blowout losses, or two, the team pulls together with a renewed sense of togetherness for having survived the embarrassment.

In the two games that have followed that fateful night in Atlanta, it appears the Raptors have opted to take the latter road.

Now obviously two games do not make a season no matter how well the team plays in them, but considering the kind of team meltdown that could have followed the locker room sniping and questioning of the coaching staff, it's an outcome the Raptors will gladly take.

While many will look to the blowout in Chicago as the emphatic statement, the true rebuttal for the Raps' letdown in Atlanta, it was the uneven game against Washington the night before that truly set the table for the night in the Windy City and (what the Raptors hope is) the success beyond it. While the team played with a heretofore-unseen level of competitiveness and togetherness in their rout of the Bulls, their ability to play through mistakes and force a win against the Wizards was the truly remarkable feat.

After the team meeting, Bosh says I am tired of speaking to teammates, I am just going to hear what they have to say. "You can keep talking about it and talking about it and talking about it. It's time to act," said Bosh. So there was our team leader talking to his teammates behind closed doors, but no response. It had to be two other teammates calling for accountability in the media to wake-up the team. Its kind of like posters in this forum. Lets give Triano a chance, there are 9 new players on the team so give them to gel together, give Bargnani time to develop, trade Bosh and make Bargs the future. Then there other posters who want to say exactly what Jarret Jack said: "I am tired of people saying its going be okay, its not okay. Everybody can't walk on eggshells around here and say, `We're playing good basketball.' We're not." Well other posters are tired of hearing give Bargnani time to develop, its his fourth year now in the NBA. I don't want to hear trade Bosh and we can build around Bargnani. We have Bosh and Hedo now. Its time to win now, play defense, and make players accountable!!

Atlanta is a better team than us, that's already been decided. The real test will be seeing how we come to play against two teams we should beat before matching up against Atlanta.

couldn't agree with you more, Bargs is a liability and he should have been at least solid and consistent by now.

I agree that ATL is better, but what would be the point in "testing" the team againt inferior or equal competition ? You only really know what you have when you play in difficult situations, when you face adversity. I want to see what this team brings to the table against the team who spat in their face and slapped their wives last week.

We beat only Cleveland among the elite teams. We lost to the other bigs of the East, namely Orlando, Boston and Atlanta. So far we are a .500 team unfortunately. But the good thing is we can only get better.

The Bucks have nothing but a easy schedule. Only one back to back most games against the dregs of the east. They won't make the playoffs
