Default Chisholm: PG Position in Good Hands With Jose

In doing so Calderon demonstrated an ability to identify and address areas of want in his game and did so without making a big show of his efforts. To achieve that level of development and confidence in a new approach (for him) to the game takes some serious dedication on the practice court (and trust on the real court) and the results were on display to close out the season. He even became more willing to hit players on the move and to throw lob passes (and learn to throw them with some level of accuracy) by season's end. Calderon's development may have come late in the season as a result of his nagging injury but it nonetheless denotes a willingness to work on his game even though he can be said to have 'arrived' as an NBA player. One of the reasons that he was retained over Ford a year ago was that his game simply showed more year-to-year improvement than that of his counterpart, a trait that has seen Ford benched by his third team (Indiana) in favor of his backup.

Calderon's defense isn't that bad. His deficiencies on defense are just magnified by the Raptors' poor team defense, which to their credit, got a lot better near the end of the year. When Jose is healthy and backed up by more effective help defense, you won't hear any complaints about Jose's defense.

Jose is a great PG. Anyone who says different either has no clue, or simply doesn't like him.
