Bucks Charlie Villanueva Anyone?

I know its not Raptors related, but would any of you entertain the thought of bringing CV back home to Toronto?

NBA teams have until Tuesday to make qualifying offers to their restricted free agents.

Hammond says he did not want to elaborate on the reasons for the decisions.

if one of bargs/bosh were gone i'd think about it, but it would depend a lot on what he was asking for.

What if Bosh, Bargs and Marion stayed.

Is there some way we'd be able to bring him in and if so, in what role?

Starting SF. Off the bench, but if he asks for a lot, it would be a real expensive bench player.

I was thinking only if Marion didn't re-sign with us could CV be another SF option? If Shawn is back in the fold, then there's no room or playing time for Charlie.

He is a great player but I don't think we need him here. Even if we were to deal Bosh and let Bargs and Charlie start, we would have 2 big men camped out at the three point line jacking them up. I just think if we were to deal Bosh, I would rather have a low post banger

Financially I doubt the Raptors would be able to bring him in. He played great ball for them when Redd went out and he should be valued pretty highly at this point.

If you could trade the Hump for a small, Charlie would be a great fit at the exception level to take his place. With all the bigs and shortage of wings though, not sure he would fit otherwise. His defence is not considered the best so he would have trouble defending small forwards if that's where he would have to play. I prefer we continue signing more athletic guards or wing players with our cash. That's where the game is going and where we're extremely weak. That's probably why the Bucks qualified Sessions over him.

He is not a great player, unless showing glimpses of being a great player makes him so.

There's a reason they are not making him an offer. He hasn't shown that he can handle the rigors of an NBA season. Just the opposite actually. On top of that he lacks self-motivation. That's not to say he lacks value altogether. He simply is not great.

The Cavs will sign him and complete a total reversal in the frontcourt. From awesome defensively and ugly offensively, to super sexy offensively and so so so so so bad defensively. Charlie and Shaq, wow, just wow

Cavs Interested In Villanueva, Rasheed, McDyess

Jun 29, 2009 7:58 PM EST
According to sources, Charlie Villanueva will be one of Cleveland's free-agent targets when teams are allowed to speak with them Wednesday.

The Cavs have their mid-level exception, expected to be around $5.6 million to $5.8 million, to offer in the first year of a contract. Villanueva's qualifying offer would have been $4.6 million. His salary last season was $3.4 million. Several teams with more salary cap space, such as the Detroit Pistons and Oklahoma City Thunder, might have interest in Villanueva.

Cleveland is also expected to pursue Rasheed Wallace and Antonio McDyess.
Cavs going for it.

charlie V would look for way to much money. he plays like richard jefferson, so other then a scorer he doesn't do much. pass, unless he wants the <= 3.5 a season

+1

One night he's getting 35/10 the next he's shooting 30% and looks like he doesn't care. He seems like the type of player that gets up to play certain teams (ie: Raptors and a few other teams), but when he's playing in Memphis in January he'll take that night off.

I like CV as lot as a person but not as a player. There is a reason why Mil let him walk and why we traded him in the first place. No team going any place will go anywhere with him. Too many gaps in his game and lack of effort is the main issue. He has the Joey syndrome, you cant count on him and you dont know what your going to get each night.

CVs game is fine its just his head thats the problem. I think he has concentration issues, or he just doesnt feel like trying hard enough every night. His offensive game is beautiful when hes out there PLAYING, and his defence is good when he actually gets in a stance and tries. Theres a lot of room for improvement but its hard to count on him night in and night out like people have alluded to. Too bad because he can be a David West type of PF, probably better, if he had Wests toughness.
