I wanna see some action from Casey, not thoughts!
Opponents establish a good rhythm on O with AB. We thought Bargnani could play with a dominant defender, but it's just not possible. The dominant defender has to rotate at times and Bargnani sure as hell won't. So it doesn't matter how good the other four defenders are.
Going over the screens is a suicide with Bargnani behind you, so you hope for the best and go under. But that's when teams shoot themselves in.
Who do you want to be hot on the opposite team - starters playing most of the game, or bench players with sporadic minutes?
I'd rather Casey BSd AB why it's best he comes off the bench, then telling us BS excuses.

McGuire. Small sample size, but I'm nothing but impressed! I'd try him out as a starter before Linas gets back.

So for now:

Jose
Demar
McGuire
Ed
Amir

Establish the D, then make some concessions for offensive sparks.

After 5 games you can make that assertion? New players, new starters, new system and you expect it to come together so fast?

Can we at least give this team time to gel and learn their roles and adjust to playing together? Mcguire and Ed as starters?

People generally just ignore Moujiks posts.

Lowry
DD
Kleiza
Amir
JV

Of course, Lowry and Kleiza may not be available - in that case sub Jose for Lowry.

SF is a clusterf**k. I think Landry should be coming off the bench until he gets confidence back in his jump shot. He's a good player, I hate to see him struggle like this. McGuire should not start for anyone. Ross can't guard 3s at this point. DD's new found post game is a bad fit against bigger 3s. So, I would have to go with AA as the starter until Fields comes around, or Kleiza returns.

I still like JV as a starter, just because he's such a high energy player. He's a fast learner, the game will slow down for him soon enough. To me it looks like he's rushing too much on O. Also, the guards are having a hard time finding him in the PnR (not sure if its a chemistry issue, or just positioning). On D he doesn't look bad, but he is definitely being tested by veteran Cs.

Hopefully JV still starts. His defense under the basket is quite good. He just can't get a break from the refs. His hands are always straight up. What can you do?

There was only one bad loss against OKC, other than that the results weren't that bad really. The main problem right now is consistency, which I guess will be the issue all season long.

Assertion?! Have you been watching the games?
Even if our "new" (what's the real problem?) guys were better defenders, but played worse than the second unit due to chemistry issues, it'd still be wise to use our gelled unit to put the stamp on the game first.
As things stand now not doing so guarantees failure.

Bargnani won't be benched after putting up 20+ points.

Who in the world would ever think he'd be bench anyway? Especially after 5 games, with Lowry out.

If there was a guy that was even close, it would be Amir... and he's not. The other two just don't have it. Ed is too small... and Acy is too beard.

Davis a good chunk of the season so far has outplayed Bargnani.

Disagree. His defense has been overblown. The guy gives more effort, but he's often getting pushed around and he does nothing to make others better. If anything, he's lucky AA can find him with a pass.

Imo he's been a better defender, better effort/energy, better rebounder than Bargs this season and he's improved his shot to a degree. I agree about his size though.

Amir has been better... gotta love that chase down block from last game.... that's the kind of stuff we should be seeing from Ed but we're not. It just feels like Amir has more size, more agility, more awareness of his skills. I'm just not an Ed fan I suppose so I'm probably wrong. It's cool. Just feels like some thought he's Chris Bosh 2.0 automatically and yet there are so many guys like that who just don't make it.

Did we try to run before we could walk?

it did feel like, from coach/media/RF (inc me,) comments that we would definitely be solid and quite a lot improved from last season from the get go. Maybe we should've just stuck to the kind of sole-focus on D vibe from last season? And hoped that lowry, DD and Bargs would do what they could offensively?

Really i think it's been 2 terrible performances so far, i include dallas, we were never really in that game, even tho we got it close near the end.

Our O is about the same or worse than last season and our D is a lot worse. Not a good recipe!

I'm still optimistic, i try to stay that way! last 2 games have been real hard to watch though. I think we'll improve, i still trust DC and i still have faith in DD and Bargs (even tho i don't think Bargs fits with how we're trying to play.)

right now, just to mix things up and send a message i would go with: lowry/DD/AA/Amir/Val and 2nd unit of Jose/Ross/fields/Ed/Bargs

yeah Bargs at C, not as important in 2nd unit. Also could be a lot rotation involved, Bargs comes in early at PF, amir switches to C, Bargs at PF with gray at C for 2nd unit, etc.

Kleiza is a mystery, see what he can do when he comes back.

Yet they were used against Minny to close out the game. Also, DD and Lowry aren't bench players.
