Chad Ford: T.J. Drawing Some Interest

Grrrreat news if your a Raptors fan and the more teams interested the Ford only means what we get in return likely increases.

However, there was some tension on the Raptors between the two guards. If the Raptors are dead-set on bringing back Calderon could Ford be the guy on the move?

Colangelo declined to elaborate saying he likes having both point guards but a source close to the situation said that the Raptors are open to moving Ford and that he's generated interest from several teams.

Ford, when healthy, has been excellent for the Raptors but there are concerns about his spinal condition. A source told Insider on Tuesday evening that Ford's health hasn't been a major issue. He's essentially as healthy today as he was when he was drafted. While his condition does pose a real risk to his long-term health, his contract is fully insured -- protecting a team that acquires him from taking a huge financial hit if he were to go down.

Ford has a more reasonable contract than Hinrich. He has three years, $25.8 million left on his contract. He's also younger (he's 25) and statistically, he had his best player efficiency rating (PER) of his career last year -- an impressive 20.37. A number of teams will be looking for point guards this summer including the Heat, Pacers, Kings, Blazers, Cavs, Nuggets, Magic and Rockets.

Ah well, if something does happen which most of us are hoping will, as per Doug Smith's blog today don't expect any trades happening till June 25th to the June 30th. Draft day deals are always happening and might be where Ford is finally moved.

It doesn't surprise me that there is interest. Ford is still a good PG and considering this league is now entered a culture where if you don't have mid to upper tier PG you won't even compete, we do still have a decided advantage over a lot of clubs. It should be interesting.

In the end, I THink TJ will be traded for something we wouldn't even see coming. I mean, when Villanueava got dealt, did anyone see that it would be for Ford? Fun offseason, it'll be.
