Default Chad Ford: Raps interested in Ben Gordon

Is Ford simply just listing the teams with some cap space? This is from his list of 25 top free agents.

Quote:
1. Ben Gordon, Bulls (UFA)
Teams Interested: Bulls, Pistons, Thunder, Raptors
Salary Range: $10 to $12 million per year

Ford also has Hedo and Marion listed in slightly lower salary ranges than I would have expected.

Quote:
2. Hedo Turkoglu, Magic (UFA)
Teams Interested: Blazers, Raptors, Kings, Magic
Salary Range: $7 to $8 million a year

Turkoglu had another strong season for the Magic and might be able to cash in with a bigger deal this summer. Then again, if the few teams holding cap space don't come through, he could be in trouble. The Blazers and Raptors have other free-agent targets as well. The Kings? They may not spend their cash this year. With the Magic's trade for Vince Carter on the night of the draft, Orlando won't make a huge offer.

8. Shawn Marion, Raptors (UFA)
Teams Interested: Raptors, Cavs
Salary Range: $6 to $7 million per year
Marion can still score, defend and rebound. But he turned 31 in May and has seen his production slip the past two years. He struggled a bit in Toronto, too, raising a legitimate question about how much a team will be willing to spend on him given his age and reputation for being difficult. The Raptors seem to be his best chance of landing more than a midlevel deal.
And here are the other players that Ford lists the Raptors having interest in...

Quote:
16. Marcin Gortat, Magic (RFA)
Teams Interested: Magic, Rockets, Mavericks, Raptors, Knicks, Pacers
Salary Range: $4 to $5 million per year
Gortat is big, fairly athletic and very tough, and the Magic may be hard-pressed to match a substantial offer to him. He's a hot name right now after a solid performance in the playoffs. He should be able to get at least a four-year deal worth $16-18 million.

23. Jarrett Jack, Pacers (RFA)
Teams Interested: Pacers, Hawks, Raptors, Sixers, Warriors
Salary Range: $3 to $5 million per year
Jack ended up beating out T.J. Ford at the end of the year for the Pacers' starting point guard position. He might get offers in the range of the midlevel exception, and it's not clear the Pacers can afford to re-sign him. One team to watch: the Hawks, who could bring him back to Atlanta, where he played college ball.

He can't play here
It would be the worst backcourt in the NBA, if you analyse it with a Defensive mind

No not GOrdon. Please no. I want a defensive player that can score not a person that can score but is a huge liability on defense

I don't like Gordon either...especially at 10 - 12 million a year for a multi year deal.

i don't like gordon, and i don't like the 10-12 million a year
this is clearly just a list of guys and potential teams that could be interested, i think we're on the interested list mainly because we are a few of the teams that have the money for him and because we need guards, but it doesn't actually mean we are interested

Jarret Jack is one of very few PGs that I would want to replace Calderon with. He is a good player, and it would go a long way in appeasing Bosh; getting his college buddy and the guy that fed him the ball in Georgia Tech to come play for us would definitely be appreciated.

Hopefully this is just a decoy, we don't need an undersized shooter at the 2 who can't play D.

I like Jarrett Jack as a back-up pg, but not to replace Calderon with.

Don't know if it was mentioned in this forum yet, but seems that Ben Gordon and Villanueva are visiting Detroit this morning:

Gordon, Villanueva meeting with Pistons

By Adrian Wojnarowski

Chicago Bulls guard Ben Gordon(notes) and Milwaukee Bucks forward Charlie Villanueva(notes) flew to Detroit on Wednesday morning for a mid-day meeting with team president Joe Dumars and indications are both are moving rapidly toward deals with the Detroit Pistons, league and sources close to the two players told Yahoo! Sports.

Gordon and Villanueva, both unrestricted free agents, would be significant strikes on the first full day of NBA free agency.

Gordon and Villanueva have history together, and are good friends. They played for the University of Connecticut, although never together. The Pistons have nearly $20 million in salary-cap space and it’s thought that the offers to these two players would come close to expending that money.

Gordon, who scored 20 points a game last season, turned down a $54 million Bulls extension as a restricted free agent last summer.

So will Dumars be giving up on the Lebron sweepstakes of 2010?

I think we should try and give up our cap space for the wing we want in a trade. We should also use this to throw away a bad contract. Wings like:

Gerald Wallace
Caron Butler
Josh Howard - S & T For Marion?

Jack would be a nice pickup as added depth. I really think the Raptors do just get added to the list, because they are a team that is shopping and not selling.

he's a starter in Indiana, why would be come here as a backup? Not to mention that we can't pay more than 3/yr for our backup PG, and he'll get MLE for sure.

i would love to see Ben Gordon playing for Toronto but he's too small for SG and shooting over SG(6'6"-6'7")
