Do you think if Carlos shows more maturity and patience on the floor, that he has what it takes to be a starting 2?

it's been a few hours since this thread was posted. we're now entering the last 35 minutes of july 2nd still no word on the delfino situation. how long does it take to sign a guy that wants to play for you?

I think he certainly has the potential to be, but I don't think it will happen. I think best case scenario he can be a very good 6th man, scorer off the bench or maybe a defensive specialist ala Bruce Bowen to guard the other team's top scorer or handle the ball in the 4th like Ginobili does. The guy has heart, I saw him trying to block D.Howard and stood up to him in the 1st round when Raps were in the playoffs. His shot selection has to improve...

It's totally the Raps holding up the signing because they're trying to keep their options open. Delfino's gungho. If the Raps ink him, it puts an end to any hope of getting anyone big on the free agent market. Once Lee, Turk maybe Odom are gone they will sign him instantly. If Marion had agreed to return, Delfino would have been signed at the same time almost instantly because they would've known at that time that they would not be players in the free agent market.

Only on a team with a real big 3(Spurs), 2 superstar players(rare now), or a team with 1 MEGA star(ie Kobe, Lebron, Wade). On our team I dont think hed be a solid effective starter. Whereas I think if he was on the Cavs last year they would have had a good shot at beating the Magic because of his versatility, something they sorely lacked at the 2/3. They had Pavlovic who is like Delfino, except Pavlovic sucks and cant do anything on offence.

But looking at the big picture, I dont think hes a starter in this league. I think his ceiling is 6th man but hes still got a ways to go to be a top level 1st guy off the bench.

AP is likely gone. who's going to be our SG/wing starter then? Delfi or DeRozan?

Raptors are waiting for Turkoglu. If Portland inks Lee, Odom or someone else we could sign Turkoglu at 50M for 5 years, because Hedo will have no options. If Portland sign Turkoglu I bet that a Marion and a Delfino deal will come up quickly

he should be ok as a starter, at least initially. He would be better than AP I think.
Until we get something better, we won't get burned too badly with delfino, especially if Marion stays. We would have a good chance of being the best rebounding team in the league, with evans off the bench and delfino, Bosh and marion in the starting lineup ...

Now you understand? Turkoglu done, Marion and Delfino to be signed soon, almost at the same time. What could delay it is a pursue to Lee or Odom. If it doesn't happen, expect these signings and then a long negotiation with Kleiza, with the Nuggets trying to keep him at a low price
