CBS projects the EC standings based on current rosters

Quote:
1. Cleveland Cavaliers

This is what signing LeBron James does, and if the Cavs can acquire Kevin Love, they might be championship favorites. Let's forget Love for now, though, and just assume James' presence will attract a veteran shooter or two. New head coach David Blatt is considered an offensive genius, and he'll now have all the options in the world at his disposal. James and Anderson Varejao will have to cover up for a lot of their teammates' mistakes on defense, but an elite offense, a pretty good defense and the best player in the world could be enough to make it to the finals.

2. Indiana Pacers

After a chaotic 2013-2014 season, no one outside of Indiana is excited about this team. I'm not even sure how the Pacers' fans feel about them. There's still a lot of proven talent here, though, and Indiana added much-needed shooting in C.J. Miles and Damjan Rudez in free agency. As long as Lance Stephenson re-signs, the Pacers should still be taken seriously. They do really need Stephenson back, though, so this is a risky ranking.

3. Toronto Raptors

Credit Toronto general manager Masai Ujiri for re-signing his free agents and adding depth early in free agency. The Raptors will bring back their entire young, improving core, and offseason additions James Johnson and Lou Williams will give their bench a boost. As long as Terrence Ross and Jonas Valanciunas develop as expected, this is probably the most well-rounded team in the East.
4. Chicago Bulls
5. Miami Heat
6. Atlanta Hawks
7. Washington Wizards
8. Charlotte Hornets

I think Indy drops though.. even if they re-sign Lance. If Washington were more experienced they would have beaten them easily

1. Cavs (if they get Love)
2. Chicago (if Rose stays healthy)
3. Washington
4. Toronto
5. Indiana
6. Miami
7. Charlotte
8. Atlanta

If Love isn't a Cavalier, and if Rose doesn't stay healthy to say the EC would be wide open is an understatement

1. Cavs (if they get Love)
2. Chicago (if Rose stays healthy)
3. Toronto
4. Washington (who is coming their bench?)
5. Indiana
6. Miami
7. Charlotte
8. Atlanta/Knicks

Wizards added Pierce, he will help them major, and I am sure Beal and Wall will improve, but I wouldn't place them ahead of Raptors because of one old veteran.. DD, Terrence and JV should all improve, plus re-signing all key players and adding more bench depth, I place raps ahead of Wiz

I think the Wizards are too low and the Pacers are too high.

Uhhh... this is the worst writing I've seen in ages. Seems like them and you guys forgot about that whole division thing. The Southeast division winner has to be top 4, lol.

It's just way too premature for any of this crap yet. Why can't the world just be happy with the games themselves, as they happen, when they happen?

the season will be a war in the east. you have 10-11 teams whom can compete for the playoffs.

to me, only Boston, Orlando, Bucks and philly will not compete this season for the playoffs, because they continue to build on talent.

that left us 11 teams whom can compete for the 8 playoffs spots.

Nets with Hollins at his head could be way better than last year.
Pistons with Svg will become better also, even if they wake up late in the season.
and Nyk could also have enough to make a run.

but for all we can think right now, the trade period and signings it's finish, so hard to say whom can be good just on their roster.
we are maybe the only team with a stable roster, that a bonus for us. we will see end of training camp.

I'd be shocked if a Heat team with Bosh/Wade/Deng finished 7th in the East.

Not sure that'd be possible unless they get slammed with injuries.

A lot of people are sleeping on DET too. They've addressed some of their perimeter woes by adding Meeks and DJ. If SVG can get through to Smith and Jennings they could be a very dangerous team... even if Monroe leaves.

To me there are 6 locks for the playoffs next season in the EC baring crazy injuries: Chicago, Cleveland, Washington, Toronto, Miami, Indiana.

7-8 spots will be between Atlanta, Detroit, Charlotte imo

I'm expecting Wade to miss his fair share of games. It will also take them time to adjust to not having LeBron and they don't really have depth.

DET is probably 9th imo. SVG will get the most out of these guys but the roster is still a mess.

Both Wade and Deng have history of injuries. I factor that into any prediction of their finish. I will be quite impressed if both play 70+ games. Now, of course, if they do, the Heat could very well finish ahead of the Wiz, winning the division and landing a top 4 seed.

I see Atlanta as the 2nd best team after Chicago. Without horford and with Millsap missing a ton of games, they were a .500 team. I see them winning 55 this season.

so does lowry/amir and that's whats worrying me. our team was extremely luck with getting by without injuries. if they can stay healthy, the 3rd seed will likely be ours again
