get used to it, 80% of the teams in the league will have a big name free agent that year, and probably half the teams are trying to get under the cap for that reason. The smart money is that there will be a lot of bargains to be had next year, if a team is willing to take back more salaries, since there will be a lot of "selling" from all these teams.

And the best cure is success, if we win 50 for the next 2 seasons, there's no way Bosh will leave TO. Same for Lebron, if the Cavs make it to the finals again, or even go all the way ...

Step 1: Keep LBJ in Cleveland.
Step 2: Worry about Step 1 before thinking about any other steps.

If they can afford first Lebron then Bosh on top of that, they will have hassan adams starting, and the rest of their roster will have league minimum salaries

rumour, sure, however, if you're Bosh, and you can go play with LBJ and a few pieces.....

heh.

don' be so cocksure Dino, it's not a bad offer, The King is a great player, and in two years, he's gonna even be better.

From here on in to the summer of 2010, you're gonna hear all sorts of shit, but if we do lose CB4, I'm sure Colangelo will come up with some sort of contingent plan to keep this team competitive.

bosh to the cavs is technically impossible, unless Bosh signs for smth like 12-14 millions a year. I doubt he will leave 6+ millions a year on the table for the chance to be LBJ's lieutenant ...

The Cavs have $20 million on the books in the 2010 offseason (Williams, West, Gibson, Hickson) and thats if they re-sign no one.
The cap will rise by 6 mil in 2 years so if Bosh and LeBron get max contacts that will be at least $60 mil. It will give them ~$20 mil to get 6 more players.

BTW Toronto will have $24 mil in guarantees (Calderon, Kapono, Bargnani) in 2010

the cap is most likely to fall the next 2 seasons, best case scenario it stays put or rises 1-2 millions. Best bet is that it stays put - in which case it will be around 57 millions. Assuming their roster remains unchanged, and your numbers are correct, they will have about $40 millions for Lebron and the other 4 players, which leaves about 17 for Bosh. But you must take into account the rookies for the next season, which will add up to something, plus if they have any other players expiring next season, they will have to be replaced with smth

Even if that's the case, and Bosh decides to take a 3 millions paycut to play second fiddle to lebron, the team would be composed of 6 players and they will have about 8 millions in exceptions to fill the roster, which is nowhere close enough, especially given that they will need a competent center since Bosh is not great at defending guys like howard. The resulting team will most likely suck even worse, because Ilgauskas and Varejao are not that easy to replace imo. Bosh can give you scoring, but their defense will suffer a massive drop.
