Cash Considerations

I was just watching NBA tv and Rick Kamla said that often cash considerations means money to buy a draft pick ("it's the going rate"). What does Brian Colangelo plan on doing with the reported 3 million dollars he received?

Options as far as i know(not sure):

Buy a draft pick (ex: Filler/Cash for pick)
Possibly buy someone out with that money (ie: Solomon/Banks?)
Use it in another trade going forward or sign another player?

What are the options on what a team can do with Cash considerations?

Best thing in our case is to use it along with expiring salary to land a player off another team.

ie: Solomon, Joey, Parker and cash considerations(3plus million)
for Richardson and Dudley.(Phoenix is in cut salary mode right now and I think Richardson could be had.
Saves Phoenic a little over 12 million this offseason.)

I think he'll buy a pick

Basically BC wants to Bosh to stay, so getting an extra pick now at the cost of a post 2010 one, is in his interest. I don't think Riley got that pick just from squeezing us, Moon was enough

Or yea it can be valuable in a trade. BC to me seems very conscience of the recession and state of teams financially right now. 3 million can be very enticing to a team like Sacramento or something. Parker + 3 million can probably get us Salmons.

we sent cash considerations with hassan adams. its not a big deal.

if it were a three million dollar trade exemption, it'd be useful, but it's not.

Hassam adams?lol The cash consideration there isn't anywhere near 3 Million dollars.

It can be up to 3 Million dollars. This deal nets us 3 Million (The Max)

and cash considerations can be used the same as a trade excemption.

it doesn't matter, jeff. the money isn't in holding for future dealings. it's for ownership to offset a contract like banks.

you never know, we might by a pic. whether we received this cash considerations or not, we were still able to offer that maximum three million regardless of the o'neal trade.

Yes, but now that money isnt coming out of MLSE's pockets, so to speak.

dfunkie1 02-13-2009 11:54 PM

yeah, it's going into it.

Dark Knight 02-14-2009 12:38 AM

How much is the 1st overall pick?

Kirby 02-14-2009 12:40 AM

Chris Bosh.

Dark Knight 02-14-2009 12:41 AM

Holy Shit! okay, forget I ever said anything. Chris Bosh, are you sure. Okay what about another top ten pick.

Gurk 02-14-2009 12:31 PM

The thing I see happening the most is BC buying a pick or leting Solo-mon go
