I hate to predict this because I would love to see him flourish into an upper tier baller, but I think he will have moments of brilliance with a slew of inconsistent poor play. I think his upside is a strong bench player after a couple of years of learning the game.

Then you look at DD ... probably just above average athleticism, lacks excellent pro skills, but works his ass off. While he also has a limited ceiling, he has been improving year over year. Please note I'm not trying to promote DD. Just making a comparison.
Probably. Larry Bird keeps saying that Lance Stephenson is the most talented Pacer. It sounded odd at first, but then where's the harm. It seems to be helping him. Some guys need to hear that they are talented, and some will work hard regardless.

No, just mean that Ross deserves this year to show his value. As for DD, he's clearly the starter, but longterm value is still way up in the air for him if he doesn't bring the defensive intensity this season. He's too often just absent on that end. Ross showed habits that made you think he was a rookie.... to be expected. Let's see if he comes in much more prepared, calm and confident.... this could be a big breakout opportunity, one which doesn't necessitate a starting spot yet.

If DD comes in thinking he's just a scorer, he's paving his way to a sixth man role very nicely.

Or paving his way to be dealt. He is a good SG with a good size but he has to bring more.

to be fair derozan started, but there seasons were similar I actually liked what ross did better in his rookie season because of the fact he can guard guys

Main difference is that Ross was supposed to be NBA ready and he was picked higher in the draft. My expectations are certainly higher ... probably not fair on my part, but I always hate seeing god given talent going to waste.

2>1. More upside.

Was picked higher? How so?

Ross was the 8th pick and JV the 5th.

Or do you mean Ross Vs DD?

ross was higher than DD, but his draft year was pretty bad compared to demar's. And Ross was not projected to be 8th, he was widely considered a bit of a reach. And I don't recall ross being called nba-ready, just that he had skills that can be used right away, such as shooting. Of course, it turned out his shooting was somewhat overrated.

Ross at 8th was a surprise, and you're right, I don't think anyone says he was NBA ready. For a shooter, confidence is the main thing. I think he can become a great shooter, but he has to work hard.
