Most people are either leaders or followers by nature and it has very little to do with basketball, really. Yeah, there are some "silent" leaders out there, perhaps, but most successful ones lead by example as well as by making sure they are heard.

It also depends on whether or not the herd is ready to follow, of course.

well Bargs was a leader last year, by no stretch of the imagination. during those 13 games he was a monster, talking, screaming with ferocity at bad calls, etc. do you remember the second game he was back, the one where he got injured again? he was so incredibly pissed to get injured again, and having to be benched, etc. dude is a leader, he just doesn't go ramping it up to the media. Bargs the killer!

Agreed... we don't need any fake tough guys and fancy pants leaders that are just looking to increase their offseason values.

he was better, but you can tell he's not liking it all that much
the leader doesn't have to be the best player, although it helps. If Lowry wants that role, he has the skills and experience to command the respect he needs and I'm sure Andrea won't have too much of a problem with that.

you can overvalue any player..... simply naming the postive attribute of a player is not enough to make your argument sound.

Probably his first 5 seasons. Specific enough?

snark is sarcastic and smart ass. cool by me.

or if you prefer:

The snark is a fictional animal species created by Lewis Carroll in his nonsense poem The Hunting of the Snark. His descriptions of the creature were, in his own words, unimaginable, and he wanted that to remain so.

The poem describes several varieties of snark. Some have feathers and bite, and some have whiskers and scratch. The boojum is a particular variety of snark, which causes the baker at the end of the poem to "softly and suddenly vanish away, and never be met with again."

The snark's flavour is meager and hollow, but crisp (apparently like a coat too tight in the waist), with a flavour of will-o-the-wisp. It is sometimes served with greens. It also sleeps late into the day. While the snark is very ambitious, and has very little sense of humor, it is very fond of bathing-machines, and constantly carries them about wherever it goes. It is also handy for striking a light; the Annotated Snark suggests that this could mean either that its skin is useful for striking matches on, or that it breathes fire.

The domain of the snark is an island filled with chasms and crags, very distant from England. On the same island may also be found other creatures such as the jubjub and bandersnatch. The snark is a peculiar creature that cannot be captured in a commonplace way. Above all, courage is required during a snark hunt. The most common method is to seek it with thimbles, care, forks, and hope. One may also "threaten its life with a railway share" or "charm it with smiles and soap"

Bargs has never struck me as much of a vocal leader. Maybe I've glossed over changes at the start of last season. If he's more comfortable being a lead by example type of guy, I don't see a problem with Lowry coming in and being the vocal counterpart. It's possible to have more than one leader of a team.
