Mehh, sign him to a one year contract extension plus a team option if the season continues to go well. Although i'd still prefer to go out and get a more experienced HC who's had playoff success.

I'd better keep him rather than sign another noname coach.

I don't have a problem with Casey.. for years we want our coaches out.. well guess what, we haven't been in playoffs for years, so if your winning and your team is respecting the coach, then there is no reason to let him go

fans want an experienced playoff tested coach, but you have to start from somewhere, who was Eric Spoelstra in Mia before the big three formed, and casey was on the coaching staff that year Dallas beat them

you could bring in a new coach, but the moment we start losing or when the coach makes bad decisions is when fans will want him fired

If we finish the season strong MU will face the same dilemma that BC had to deal with while Smitch was here. As a GM it's very difficult to explain why you won't extend a coach who took a team that was soft with no D, developed young players, improved the D etc...and brought them to the playoffs (regardless of the outcome). This is a good progress. I assume that if we finish strong a short extension will follow. He may not be a top coach in the league but we could have done much worse than DC. If we finish 41-41 it is still a very good progress compare to the last 2-3 years. If we finish anything better than this, itís a bonus.

Such a difference, huh? Seems like he had lost the locker room when Gay was here - maybe everyone else seeing Gay ignore Casey had a ripple effect? Offense looks a lot better (actually, a lot more like what I expected based on Nurse's systems in the past) so maybe Gay really was doing his own thing rather than having iso's run for him. The defense being better is probably a symptom of players listening to Casey again (plus JV, Amir and Ross playing more).

The weird bit is that Casey's rotations have improved, his timeouts have improved, no insane clock management lately - maybe when the team checked out he did too, a little bit. Now that he has a group he can work with, he seems to be a lot more focused.

I'm not ready to forget how terrible he was for the first half of the year, but if the rest of the season tracks closer to the last 12 games than the first 18, then I'll be forced to reconsider my opinion that Casey needs to go.

Zone and 2 other players had Carter before Jose... still bad though.

Hard to fault Casey for anything right now TBH.... in spite of the horrid start.

Perhaps the root of this team's problems really were a) Rudy's selfishness and b) a lack of depth?
