it says he's been a beast, and added 15.... why would you think it's just a bad 15?

The guy continues to get better. It's great news that our best player continues to work hard. Hope that he's over the hesitancy caused by that calf injury and he leads us to the playoffs this year.

That's very good news. My biggest concern with him is how his play takes a nosedive when he's not 100 percent physically. Hopefully 15 pounds of muscle can give him more to draw on when needed. If he can take the sort of late path that z-Bo took (and yes, that Carp foresaw) then it could mean a whole lot.

You're very kind to say such nice things! Z-BO is pretty awesome. Fans in portland and NY didn't give him enough of a chance!

I know that I had a chance to laugh my ass off at him in person, and he completely earned it. There's no denying that both guys always had the talent from day one. But I always contend that talent is overrated, and all too easily wasted if overly relied upon. And these guys are exhibit A and exhibit B. it's good that all the chances they got paid off and they now appear to have what it takes to make something of that talent.

Not that I give Andrea a free pass just yet. But this is a good sign.

Oh I agree....you think the Grizz are glad to have him back? He's gonna crunch the league for 20/11 with Gasol covering his back defensively. Probably the only front court in the West that can handle the Lakers front duo. Well the Spurs do have Curry now though....

From the National Post.....

As you might imagine, gaining any sort of critical insight into a team’s fortunes during training camp is a tough task for an interloper.

The factors working against that: 1) The Raptors open up their practices to the media only after scrimmages have taken place, leaving only free throws to be judged; 2) The players are playing against their own teammates; 3) With all of the games that matter still in the future, everybody is hoping for the best, willing to embrace the positive without hesitation.

So, all hype must be taken with that in mind. Nonetheless, Dwane Casey likes what he has seen from Andrea Bargnani, who missed 35 of 66 games last year because of a strained calf.

“I’m really happy that he’s come into camp in great shape, 15 pounds heavier, stronger but he’s playing at that high level that we saw last year,” Casey said.

“He had a rough year psychologically and physically last year just because he was disappointed he couldn’t help us. So probably he needed [the summer] to regroup.”

• But, hey, it is not all sunshine, rainbows and future banners hanging from the Air Canada Centre rafters. Coaches are constantly looking for ammunition, and Casey has found his early in training camp.

Casey wants the Raptors to play at a faster pace this year. However, it must be done with some purpose.

“It was a good day, love our effort, love our spirit but way too many turnovers,” Casey said when defining the morning’s work. “When you play fast, and we’re trying to [speed up the game], there becomes a [lack of] responsibility with the ball and everyone’s guilty of it and it’s natural. But … the only thing I’m saying we’re behind on is taking care of the ball and making sure we make the right basketball play, the smart basketball play.”

• Your daily Jonas Valanciunas (strained calf) update, courtesy of Casey: “We’re not waiting for him to come back. We’re kind of waiting for him to naturally get healthy and we’re not going to rush him. I’m not looking or asking every day if he’s coming in, when he’s here, he’s here. When he comes, it’s at his own pace.”

Just because he is not asking does not mean everybody else will follow suit, of course.

Hopefully he isn't like Bosh when he was in Toronto. Every year he'd put on 20 pounds and then lose it in a month.
