If we get Gay, there is no need for DeRozan as we have both Fields and Ross.

take away looks, put on is.

I'm basing this on the fact that he has more dimensions to his game than DeRozan. He shoots better, rebounds better, plays better defense, and handles the ball better. yeah, he hasn't played in the nba so you can say that doesn't cut it.

If we're going to compare them on a college level (which is incredibly difficult to do as the classes and competition change) Ross looked like a more complete college player. Washington with Wroten were fun to watch (as was Washington St.) Ross' game was more fluid, while DeRozan was an athlete learning to play basketball at USC.

Sometimes you have to trade an asset to get a good one, especially an SF. I like the potential of Ross but if it nets us Gay or AI I wont complain. Like I said as well, if DD is the one other teams want then so be it. Personally I don't care either way as long as the team gets a great player for the 3.

I think you are the one who needs to give your head a shake.

DD gets to the line, yes, we can all agree on that, he also has an average mid-range shot.

What else does he honestly do though? He's an average rebounder at best. His handles are horrible. His D is not that great. His 3 point shooting has improved but it's still horrid. He is still quite raw. Right now he's a 1-dimensional player within 1-dimension.

let me make it clear. DeRozan can do absolutely nothing but score in a very limited manner.
Ross has the skillset of a more complete player.

Atlantic Division Small Forwards

Celtics- Pierce /Knicks- Anthony/Sixers- Iguodola/Nets- Wallace/Raptors- Fields/Kleiza

That's all the evidence I need to know that the Raptors could use Rudy Gay,especially if they want to keep pace with the other teams. Philadelphia isn't going to give Toronto Iggy, period!

They've already committed money to Fields(better suited at SG) and drafted Ross(#8 overall),so as much as I like Derozan,if it's him who it'll take to acquire Gay to upgrade the SF position, the Raptors almost have to do it.

Im sorry, haven't really been following too closely, is there even a slim possibility we actually get Gay or are we just hoping? This is a legitimate questions, not being an asshole.

Trades of superstars to Toronto are extremely rare.... I'd put our chances at 5% and the chances that Gay is moved at 5%.... sooooo, 0.05 x 0.05?

you killed all the fun Carp, and brought us back to reality lol.

I think you're bang on, the Raps would definitely have to overpay on outgoing talent/potential. In this case, based on the talent at that position in the division and how much easier it is to find a quality true Sg versus SF,i think it's worth it to overpay.

send Derozan/Davis/Calderon/2014 1st round pick to Memphis for Gay/Wroten Jr./2013 2nd round pick.

It would have to be a pick swap. Can't trade another 1st until 2015 at earliest (right now) and probably later with strange protection. Pick swap would be better value, along with sending our 2nd rounder.

How about this 3 team deal?

to Toronto: PF- David Lee, SF- Rudy Gay
to Memphis: PF/C- Andrea Bargnani, PG- Jose Calderon,SG- Demar Derozan
to Golden State: PF- Zach Randolph, PG- Josh Selby

Approved on ESPN's Trade Machine,NBA Trade Machine - ESPN

The Analysis predicts a little drop off for Memphis and Golden State, then improvement for Toronto.

I think it's fair for all team's,Memphis gets a better big man inside/outside duo between Gasol and Bargnani. A solid back up point guard in Jose to Conley.
Derozan will be good to start or relieve.

David lee??? You really lost me at David Lee. I would have reservations about taking him alone. I would need more than a first rounder for that nasty contract. Something like a gay for derozan would make more sense.

His contract is only 2 million more than Bargnani this season.
He averaged 20 pts/10 rebs last season on 50% FG shooting and has averaged 15 pts and 10 rebounds for his career.
only missed 9 games in each of the last 2 seasons. He's a solid player and would fit in great with Casey's system along side Valancuinas, especially if they got Gay too.

The only downside is that he's 29 and Andrea is turning 27,but that's equal value right there. If the Raptors could get Gay for Derozan and if that made sense,it would've been done already lol, believe that!

Bargnani/Derozan/Calderon/Johnson (25Mil)

For

Gay/Mayo (S&T) (roughly 24Mil depending on Mayo's deal)

I think Mayo would have to be one for one for Bargnani or Calderon but whatever same result.

Lowry/Lucas III?/Uzoh
Mayo/Ross/Fields
Gay/Fields/Kleiza
Amir/Davis/Acy
Gray/Valanciunas/Vet Min?
