Default Canada Basketball Names 2008 Men's National Team

Let's go Sammy .... get us to Beijing next month.

A shame that Nash won't play anymore for Canada.

Whoa. Half of that team is from ON

And I hate to point it out, but the Canadian B-ball team is nothing without Nash, really.

Fuck that .... that would be an insult to the guys that got them there if they infact qualified which I doubt they will. But, that being said, Nash is too nice of a guy to steal someone's roster spot who deserves it more than him.

Nash had his chance .... see ya later Steve-O and thanks for the memories.

dont ditch on the canadian team
its a team after all, and if nash doesnt play, maybe we lose sooner
but he cant play forever (or at all under leo and after the triano coaching change), and the country needs to develop young talent. u know, like that new partnership between the raps and canada basketball giving them 500k to cover expenses.

There's some damn good players on that team, even without Steve Nash. But Nash would make us a sleeper team imo. And that's the problem, the team as it stands doesn't really have a good point guard who a. plays defence and b. reads the teams defence and adapts the entire team. Nash doesn't really do (a) but he does (b) better than a lot of players I've seen do. That's what they're missing.

Carl English shoulda been kicked off the team years ago. The guy thinks hes Lebron and fucks up nearly every play where hes the ball handler or makes himself the ball handler. Stand in the corner and shoot scrub.

I cant wait til the olympics though. I'm already bball starved.

bump.

caught some of Canada and Slovenia while having breakfast today. Yikes. SLovenia was schooling us... AND they were resting "secret weapon" Uros Slokar. Don't know how th game finished, but i don't think any of us expected a win regardless. In any case: top 3 qualify so there is still lots of ball to be played.

Yup, we lost 86-70. Dalembert was fuckin' shit too. Seems as though Rowan Barrett and Joel Anthony were the only two to show up for Canada.

Here's the boxscore for those who care: Box Score

Greece, Germany, Brazil and Puerto Rico are in this tournament.

Only the top 3 advance.

Canada just lost to Slovenia.

I love Canada Basketball...but there isn't a chance in hell we make the Olympics.

Brazil? I heard Vareajo, Nene and Barbosa all aren't playing.

But for sure Germany, Greece and Puerto Rico should be going through.

So instead of being way better than Canada they'll be just slightly better?

But yeah, I was just saying, we'd have to beat two of those four elite teams. We couldn't beat Slovenia.

I don't like our chances.

I don't like ours either. I'll take Slovenia to take that final spot.

If you win one game (against Korea), your on the next round. It's difficult, but not impossible.

They should beat Korea, but chances are they would be the last seed and probably face Greece first round in the quarters. Goodbye chances.

I'm not expecting much, but I'm certainly cheering. I like Dalembert more and more. Whatever you want to say about Leo, he was right that it would improve Sam's game to play with Team Canada. Jamal should take notes.
