OK......let's see if I can make this clear.

The roster is the problem.

Was that clear?? No "real coach" that you speak of could suddenly turn this into a winning team. Why don't we wait and see what kind of a coaching job JT does with a better roster.

Even though we still stink we still have a lot of reason to be thankful for Sam's firing. Like Bargnani exploding with the new leash he's been given, and Bosh not fucking up his knees by averaging 42 minutes a game.

I hear all this hype about Messina and I buy into some of it, but don't any of you Messina-lovers think that language could be a huge barrier? And being a guy with 0 experience coaching in the NBA, will the players respect him? To me there's a lot of question marks around the guy.

His coaching seminar in Toronto this past off-season was a huge success, so I don't think language is going to be an issue.

I think he would make a good coach in the NBA, but if he were to come here it would be nice if he could get a year as an NBA assistant coach first before taking over as head.

Wait for the offseason. Just like every other team that fired their coach they have interim coaches. There are good assistants in the league and they don't leave their teams midseason.

and please no Messina, I can't take these projects anymore. Let's get someone with proven coaching success in the NBA.

Bargnani was given a huge leash and many opportunities by Sam. He failed with all of them.

And you do realize that Bosh is still averaging 39 minutes a game right? Triano has realized the same thing as Sam. If Bosh doesn't play 40 minutes, the Raptors probably don't have a chance to win.

I highly doubt the players will respect Messina if he's just thrown into the head coaching role out of the blue. If he wants to be an NBA coach, he'll have to be an assistant first.

Gotta disagree with you Dogbert, the leash Bargs was given under Smitch was anything but long. And sure he was given many opportunities (he was the number 1 pick in the 2006 draft after all), but he had a short leash for everyone of them.

But in saying that, I don't really think Bargs is playing better because JT is now the coach, I think Bargs is playing better because JO went down with an "injury" and now he is getting consistent starting minutes.

Messina is without a doubt the best coach not in the NBA, he would have the respet of players in his first year because he would not only demand it, but his intelligence about the game would earn it.

Can you describe me what a "Real" coach is?, are you one BTW?.

And Snooch, thats simply not true, he is one of the best, but there are various coaches as good as him. Im curious to know how many "not in the NBA" coaches you know. BTW many people say Messinas Style is pretty boring so I dont know how much people will like him. That said, I cant say Im not curious to see him coaching the Raptors.

Jeez Belsius.... don't you know?

A REAL coach is a guy who can get 65 wins out of this roster and beat the Celtics by 40!!

Coaching is apart of the issue, but not the main issue. The players are. Quit harping on Sam and Jay. Guys like JVG and Flip Saunders aren't going to make our underachieving asses shine. Outside of 3 or 4 good players, the rest of our team is made up of .... and I say this nicely ...... SCRUBS.

I agree JT is not cut out to be an NBA headcoach. But nothing will happen until june-july imo. I'm just praying that it's not Messina. And i'm not religious!

Based on what exactly? Because we've lost 4 in a row?

Did people really think that Jay was going to come here mid-season and lead the team to 55 wins or something?

Not at all. But imo we would have been better off keeping Sam for the rest of the season and fire him in the summer if he couldn't turn things around.Triano imo just isn't a good decision maker. For one he's still starting Solomon and never plays Hump and in general his call playing especially in late game situations have been questionable at best. He's temporary.

Whats with all this talk about Jay not being a real coach. Triano is doing all the right things on this team based on what he has to work with at this time. We are at the mid point of the year so there is alot of basketball to be played. But then again we so called fans have to roast someone from the organization each week.
