Question Can Bargs actually rebound?

It's a small sample size, but without Reggie he's had games of 7, 8 and 12 and is even hitting the offensive glass.

Don't jinx it, the last thing we need is Bargnani chucking 3s.

Bargs has it in him to go get rebounds. Now that he knows Reggie's out, I guess he's pushing himself more to get those boards.

I only saw the part of the 3rd and the 4th, but I saw him running like crazy to the glass to try to get a couple of offensive rebounds. I dont remember seeing that before. He's numbers will go up naturaly, hopefully his effort and awareness too.

He's actually been getting on the offensive glass. Something we barely ever see. With Amir also playing very well down low, we can trade Reggie, even though we shoulda done it before he got injured lol

He's been breaking into a really good sweat, and looking happy about it.

The biggest factor in my mind has been Triano cutting all the endless switches out of the defense. Andrea had used those before to take himself out of play on the defensive end altogether. Now he stays at home much more and is in a much better position on the boards. He still gets caught watching shots too much to say he is a good rebounder. But he might be able to add enough to a good defensive group to be an overall plus.

In a similar vein, how long does Jose have to play the way he has been before people will start admitting that they were wrong about him?

As much as I liked Jarrett, to be honest, our last trade was one of the best team chemistry building trades I've ever seen. And the surge we're experiencing is due in part to Jose's improved play (as the pg, increases in his play inherently improve the efficiency of the offense) just as much or more than anyone else's.

When theres nobody else to get the boards, somebody has to get them... But I'll admit, at least hes trying to improve now it seems. I'm still no believer until he shows real consistency

yeah lately he's been hitting the offensive glass a lot. either tapping it or grabbing it. it's a good sign, hope he keeps it up.

his rebounding number naturally rises without reggie in the lineup
but i do agree with you guys his effort level has gone up a bit. however without technique his rebounding numbers wont last. his technique is to simply use his 7 foot frame and try and reach for the ball from behind his opponent who has boxed him out about 30 seconds before the shot was even taken, hence all the tapping
this might work sometimes especially when your opponent has a small lineup in the front court like today, but even with a decent rebounding centre on the opposing team, youll see him disappear from the stats sheet faster than his first step
and to help him even more, amir and davis are not exactly prolific rebounders and its obvious bargnani`s rebounding numbers will rise

so to answer the question, no he cannot actually rebound
it doesn`t matter how hard he tries because it`s just not in him. to a good rebounder boxing out when a shot goes up is natural; to Bargnani he has to think: oh, i better go box out if i want this board. even that millisecond will cost him positioning. also, he doesn`t have the knack for the ball. you never see him get on the floor or slap the ball out of someone`s hand or pulling it away from his opponent. it`s just not him and what he is is a scorer and that`s what`s natural to him

and on a side note his body isn`t exactly made for rebounding
he has a high base, weak lower body strength and lack of explosiveness. the only thing he has is his height

Maybe everything DOES happen for a reason.. what IF we traded Reggie and Jose for Chandler and Diaw.. It would be a whole new team right now..

Reggie Evans stole rebounds from everyone. Bargnani is 7 feet and if kevin love can do it no reason Bargnani cant

Maybe now people see the value in having vets like Evans on the team. Young guys like Bargnani learn from peer, not from coaches. Its about changing the team identity and culture. It's viral.

Reggie is rubbing off on all of them man, and its a good thing. If they manage to release the beast in Bargnani look out....

I think basketball fans think too damn much. Analyzing everything will make ya crazy. Just be happy they don't suck as bad as they could! Yay!

Bargs is not a selfish guy... If he sees an easy rebound coming off the glass, he doesn't push his teamate aside to get it. Which is what a lot of players do to stuff their stats - Reggie was one of those guys. Bargs will defer Rebs to his teammates, because he isn't a stat stuffer. Now that he's the biggest guy on the court, he knows that he HAS to go after the rebounds because no one else will... I guarantee his reb numbers increase dramatically from here on out.

That's ridonkulous and it just doesn't work that way. As a basketball player you go after rebounds, you don't leave them for your selfish stat-stuffing teammates to grab because you're a nice guy.

His teammates react quicker than he does, that's why he doesn't get the rebound numbers. If he reacted quicker than a Reggie Evans he would be getting 15 boards a game. It has nothing to do with him "being a nice unselfish guy".
