Default Camby and JR Smith instead of JO?

Do you think the Raps were better off sending Rasho, Ford and the 17th pick to Denver for Camby and JR Smith? Raps needed interior defense which Camby has and they needed perimeter players, which they would have gotten from JR Smith

Calderon
Smith
Parker
Bosh
Camby

That would have been much better than:

Calderon
Parker
Moon
Bosh
JO

obviously we cant, but would you have? once that trade was rumored (with JO) I was thinking of that the Raps were going to be making a mistake if this goes through and they should look at Denver who wants to get rid of Camby and needed a PG in return

they didnt need a point guard. they has ai, atkins and more. plus, what they definitely didnt need is a gun-happy point guard, they had enough from that in their sg - ai and sf - carmelo.

They did need a PG, thats why they traded for Billups and were contemplating trading for Tinsley (shows how desperate they were). Denver wants to cut salary, thats why the got rid of Camby for a 2nd rounder, and they wanted a PG, thats why they traded AI for Billups.

We could have traded Ford (their PG fix), Rasho (their cap releif) and a #17th pick (more incentive).

We could have had an amazing line up of:

Calderon
Smith
Parker
Bosh
Camby

No. Why because JR Smith is an overrated player and is a chucker. Plain and Simple. Camby is more of an injury risk than JO, a bad defender (look away from the blocks for a moment) and has no offensive capabilities at all.

yeah, a backcourt with AI and TJ would have worked miracles ... NOT. The reason they've traded for Billups is because they needed to get rid of AI, who was clearly not working for them. Billups has a smaller contract and is a better player in almost every way possible (at least at this stage in their career). If Detroit didn't need the cap relief, there's no way they would have made that trade.

Yeah I agree. Sure he is a good player and averages a lot of points. Half the shots he takes are 3 pointers and he shoots a pretty bad percentage of those too. Moon is a poor man's JR Smith. Can go to the hole but chooses not to, instead takes three's. I am happy the way the trade happened

that woulda been a killer deall for the raps and hey the nuggets would have ford at the 1 AI at the 2 and melo at the 3 that would work for them but more importantly for us camby and JR only problem this dosent solve one of our problem which is guarding a wing player

It is always a mistake to get a player going downhill in his career. Especially if he has a bulky contract. Of course unless you are a lottery team and the contract expires at the end of season. Better get two players instead of one. If one of them turns out to be good then you at least have something. Why put all eggs into the same basket?

Hes a bad defender? Are you kidding me? Hes won defensive player of the year not only because he blocks shots and gets rebs, its his presense

he's a great help defender, but not a great all around defender. And compared to him, JO is an iron man ... And he doesn't have a contract that expires in 2010, and he doesn't have any offensive game to speak of. And JR Smith is exactly the kind of player Bryan will never sign, because it's a major gamble.
